Look at our creature curve. When a 4-drop lowers your creature curve, you need more creatures. It also has an ETB effect we can recur with Nightmare, and it blocks well. All around a good card that provides a body and protects the board. Cultivate, while helping our fixing and helping us ramp, is still bad in the late game when we have our engine going, whereas the Giant will always be playable because it's a decent body to boot and, like I said, sacs to Nightmare.

The 5-drop is nice, but we don't need more 5-drops. The trick with cubes is to draft decks. You can get by drafting good stuff, but that tends not to win as much.

Can't cast O-Ring... and its kinda late to be splashing.

Dismember doesn't feel powerful enough.

Icy Manipulator answers really big guys, but activations still kill you.

I'll vote Icy Manipulator since at least you can play some games with it and not die to a singularly huge attacker.

I know the right call is between manipulator and dismember... but 12 power on the board for 5 mana is amazing...
