Ok so some of you may have seen my "does anybody have any thread ideas" thread. To my suprise, people actually suggested some stuff, so here are some of them:

1:Create a new race for red that shows off the side of the colour that goblins don't.
2:Which set had the best flavour?
3:How to bring back dwarves.

Most of these seemed like pretty small topics (except for the last one) that could have there own thread, but don't need it.

I'm of half a mind to just steal the most interesting point of discussion. The other half of my mind is entertaining the idea of just getting this thread locked and starting three new ones.

1: Red doesn't have a dedicated "animal-race" (cat-folk, rhox, merfolk, loxodon, ratfolk, turtlefolk...). Pick an appropriate one and work from that.

2: Shards of Alara, because I'm biased as hell. Probably Innistrad, though.

3: Don't.

1: Goat. Always goat. But in all seriousness all goats to this day are red and goat people would be really cool. Think of all the cool art you make with those horns

2: I love Innistrad with a passion. Like you don't even understand, if it was a person, I would buy it dinner, bring it home, and then get rejected by it because of my inadequacy as a person.

3: A good way to bring them back would be in a set were they bring back other less used mtg creatures. Something like Lorwyn and/or Zendikar.

1:Create a new race for red that shows off the side of the colour that goblins don't.

I have a middle-easterny setting I want to use, and human-sized djinns are my red race there and their respective hatis creativity, whereas goblins' hat is consistently curiosity.

2:Which set had the best flavour?

I think it was a rubbish set mechanically, but I think the art and text of Dark Ascension did a rather good job of "humanity is on the brink of extinction" thing.
Quote:
3:How to bring back dwarves.

Ignore the mountainman shtick, embrace the whiteness, make them the characteristic white race (merfolk, vampire, goblin, elf).

Only if they were anti-troll-tribal.

I feel like that might swerve too out of the color pie these days. Not the red creativity, but the fact that they push djinn in blue now. They're blue's subicons in the modern world, even if they appeared everywhere back in the day.

Dooooh.
I meant to say Efreet. <_<

Or did I...
I really don't understand the difference in the Magic verse.
Doesn't help that neither is used all that much.

Red totally does have an animal race, though. Viashino are basically lizard people. They're just different from the other animal races in that they have their own type.

Also...

3. ANGEL'S GRACE: REFERENCES PLATINUM ANGEL AND/OR SUSTAINING SPIRIT.

I want white dwarves. They're already the whitest race. A bunch of no nonsense, communally-oriented artifact lovers. Get over the dwarves = mountains = red chain of associations would be tough though. Maybe bring back sea dwarves? No, no takers? Settle them down in cities then.
The other option is to drop dwarves because every fantasy product on earth already has them. Then we're left with Viashino. Beyond the "lizards are often red" and "they live in the desert" aspects though they're not all that red. A lot of warriors maybe, but that doesn't count for much when half of everybody is swinging a sword at somebody else.

Efreet are spirits of fire, djinn spirits of air.

They tend towards anti-establishmentism. Not quite anarchy, but they don't cant to authority very well. Big on freedom and their right to it.

A little past the Beastie Boys, a little short of WTO protesters.

Isn't that what the satyrs are?

Nope. That is a viashino who is an anarchist rather than example of all viashino.
