This fight was suggested by our own TPmanW. These two are some of the strongest heavenly and hellish beings in magic. Who will win? Good or evil?

It honestly depends on whereas her shtick, being empowered by humanity's ill state or not, affects her on Mercadia. If it does, she's toast if Mercadia's status quo remains.

Interesting...Suppose that her power does not rely on humans.

Interesting...Suppose that her power does not rely on humans.

But it does.
She's specifically powered by the prayer wards, making it a feedback loop cycle empowering her in times of need because of the prayers to her.
Mercadia has only one god: Greed.

The question is whether her powers would transfer from Innistrad to Mercadia, but I doubt it.

Even if they did transfer I could see malefegor tricking everyone on mercadia to fight against her, causing her to retreat or kill all the humans, and I doubt she would.

Malfegor is DEFINITELY not tricky. He's straight forward and brutal.
He's of the "crush your enemies and see them driven before you" school.
If he's going to raise an army, he'll murder as many people as he can get his hands on (and he has four of them after all) and then raise them from the dead.

Okay, in an effort to apply a more rigorous standard of analysis to this battle than I have used on previous occasions, I attempted to consult with a noted expert in angel-on-dragon violence - namely Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden, 47th Vice President of the United States and Chairman Emeritus of the Greater Washington Area Interactive Literature and Live Action Role-Playing Society.

Unfortunately, due to some lack of clarity in my communication with the office of the Vice President, I not only failed to secure Joe Biden's expert opinion, I have also been banned from all Washington metro area LARP fests and Renaissance fairs for the next ten years.

So, yeah, I'm just going to wing this one the way I usually do.

Okay, it its surface, this might seem like a battle between two extremely powerful beings: Malfegor, a dragon with a demon's soul, the scourge of Alara, versus Avacyn, a nigh-indestructible archangel, the protector of Innistrad.

But, when you dig a little bit deeper, you realize that we're not talking about two independent warriors here. We're talking about a pair of blue-collar schlubs just working for The Man, even if, in this case, The Man might be an evil genius dragon planeswalker or an "it's-good-to-be-bad" vampire planeswalker.

Malfegor and Avacyn, when you get right down to it, are just the hired help - they clock in, smite their enemies, and clock out.

So who do they remind us of?

Malfegor is clearly like the Peter Gibbons to Bolas's Bill Lumbergh. I can just see Bolas, mug of coffee in one clawed-hand, leaning over Malfegor's cubicle wall at Grixistech, saying: "Ah, I almost forgot... I'm also going to need you to go ahead and invade Esper on Sunday, too. We, uhhh, lost some people this week and we sorta need to play catch-up. Mmmmmkay? Thaaaaaanks."

Meanwhile, if she's on Mercadia, Avacyn is obviously most analogous to Dante from Clerks, because she's just going to be moping around, saying to herself: "I'm not even supposed to be here today!"

And, as much as I'd like to offer a contrary opinion to the pro-Malfegor consensus, I just can't see a demotivated Dante rallying here to defeat a hypnosis-empowered Peter. Malfegor's out to get what's due to him, whereas Avacyn is going to slink off and play roller hockey when the going gets tough.

The Verdict: Malfegor defeats Avacyn, but it turns out not to matter much, since Milton burns down Mercadia immediately afterward.

The big problem here is the fact that Malfegor was a legitimate scourge unto himself all the way to the Sundering and the Fall of Asha. He has murder-death-killed him an archangel before and he liked it. Given, he was Bolas's dog for the past few years, but... he has a looooooong history of doing what he wants.

Ah, but that was in the past. That was before Bolas put up a big banner over everyone's workspace: "Is it Good for the Company Elder Dragon Planeswalker?"

This is the value of having a corporate mission and vision statement - it helps your employees to focus their efforts.

Terminating the excess help also helps consolidate everything. Really streamlines the synergy. Maximizes the dynamics.

Well I'm not sure if he got the memo. Do you know if he got the memo?

But see, if he starts killing people left and right, Avacyn might be able to convince people that they need her help, which could empower her enough to win. As a matter of fact, I'm going to assume that's what happens. Malfegor gets cocky, Avacyn gets support, Malfegor gets hoist by his own petard. I choose this option, because I love it when Evil causes its own downfall.

OK I wrote two paragraphs on this but deleted it instead because they ended up making no sense, so I'm going to go with malfegor because avacyn would get distracted b/c she would try to save the humans on the plane from the collateral.

Knowing very little about Malfegor except that he is a badass, I'm going to have to assume Avacyn wins because she is a super badass. Now, how bad is Mafegor? I don't really know. But I do know that Avacyn's hellabad. If the president was kidnapped by ninjas she would be bad enough to save him. Malfegor's killed an archangel before, but Avacyn is an experienced demon-slayer. I don't know if Asha was out of fighting shape or just got unlucky or what, but Griselbrand was one tough cookie and Avacyn cracked him wide open. Going with Avacyn.

Actually no, Griselbrand and she fought to a stand still and then she finally forced him into the Helvault, and even then, he drug her in after him.

The major problem with that is... the Ramosians already have their own immortal god.
The Dragon Engine Ramos, he who brought low the Predator.

@Barinellos: Yeah that's true. I always got the idea that Griselbrand wasn't all that far above the other demons Avacyn regularly fought in terms of strength and that he only (barely) fought Avacyn to a tie because he came prepared ahead of time.
