So, let's figure out a few things:

1) Are we Migrating here and maintaining presence on Wizards, Staying on Wizards and maintaining a presence here, or moving here and dumping wizards?

2) Are we going to move the Archives or just link to a secure storage like google docs?

3) What's the state of Seasons of Dusk?

Well in my opinion you'd be better served migrating here.

More reliable forum management and better moderation.

I always advise caution, so I think we want our feet in both camps for the time being, but honestly, the wizards boards are nearly unusable for M:EM purposes right now. That being said, I think we should get some sort of idea or count of how many M:EMbers are coming here after the Great Sundering before we fully commit. As of right now, I'm leaning toward option A, but I think time will tell.

Unless putting the archives on here causes a problem I haven't thought of yet, I'd say put it on. In my experience, people rarely click links. I could, of course, be mistaken, but that's my impression.

As for Seasons, a few decisions need to be made. I have a ton of grading to do, so I might not be able to get to this before Thursday or so, but TP was willing to revise his story, so hopefully we can help him get that. I still know nothing about iamtequila and the revision to her story. Other than that, though, I think we're basically ready to move on to design, which is very much not my strong suit. I know Barinellos had been working on that, and I think Keeper has some ideas, but that's all I know on that.

He certainly has, but it's all pieces and nothing is assembled. Until we can get a chance to assemble things, I don't know how the pieces will interact as far as design goes.

As far as tequila goes... I'm tempted to say that if she's incommunicado, we see if any of us can come up with an unobtrusive line edit for it the same way I did for "to Purge the wicked", which had the same problem.

I do think that we should maintain a presence on wizards. Like their system or not, it is where anyone new will first come. We can direct them here if this is where the heart of the project comes to live, but we need a presence.

Honestly, going forward we're going to need at least one subforum created to house our archived threads. The WiP board can pretty much just be this one, but the archives are something we need.

Unless we host the Archives on google docs and use a single sticky archive thread to link to the archived documents.

A subforum would be better for "foot traffic" browsing though

Seeing how I was never a part of M:EM, but really want to participate in as many parts of these forums as I can, I'd appreciate an easy way to drop in and check out everything, so considerations for "foot traffic" browsing is certainly something I'd appreciate seeing.

I feel justified now.
Basically, that foot traffic browsing is what's going to draw people in. Links that take you off site get considerably less click through than you might imagine. It's an extra step that'll kill participation.

This is very likely (it would be hard to do worse), but we don't actually know this yet.

I'll take it up with Management.

I've also decided I'm going to call the site-admins "Management" because I like making references to obscure TV-series.

Hmm, now I wanna know what "Management" refers to in this situation.... Burn Notice?

1) I'd say migrate here and channel anyone interested on the WotC forums to this place. I'm sticking around there anyway, even if it's only in the off-topic thread for now. (I'm assuming that will be fixed some day.)

2) I'd say both. We would need another subforum, though, but I'm sure that can be arranged.

3) I'm shockingly uninvolved with all of this.

As in, an obscure HBO show from 2003-2005? Because if it is, you just made me very happy.

I'm in favor of moving here but maintaining a Wizards presence. There's not a lot that we're going to be able to do in the subforum at this point, because literally all the useful tools have been taken away from us. Every time I go on there I get so frustrated, because the most I can do is shuffle boards around in a really counterintuitive way.

That said, maintaining a F&S presence is going to be valuable, I think.

It might be good to start moving all the major works in progress over here. That means starting a new Seasons of Dusk thread and copying that info over, and there's a few Worldbuilding threads that can probably be transported if their respective owners will transport them.

Barinellos, you know my regular e-mail, right? Can you send me a zip folder with the elements you put together for the design? That way I can start playing around with it and we can ship things back and forth a bit.

Oh, good news! I finally have my scanner, and I have a bunch of rough costume designs for Jakkard, so I might be able to start posting some Jakkard stuff again.

The foot traffic thing is a good point. I don't know what we should do about that, honestly.

The other major order of business is... who's in charge? I offered M:EMperorship to Yxoque but I don't think he decided publicly yet whether or not he was going to accept. If he doesn't, we need to figure out who's leading things. Any of us could do it, I think, but it comes down to who has time to dedicate to administrative crap vs who wants to prioritize writing/designing. Or, uh, prioritize grad school. Oh god I still have like 200 pages to read before tomorrow HNNNG GONNA DIE

Ahh, well that's why I couldn't figure it out. Never watched any HBO shows.

Funny, I've been meaning to ask if anyone around here had watched the show. The wife and I are a little over halfway through. We kinda just want to get through it as quickly as possible and be done with it, because dang, that show messes with your head.
