For those that don't know it was a combo deck that came about with the release of Exodus, that used the amazing synergy of Survival of the Fittest and Recurring Nightmare.
You basically ran some BoP, Wall of Blossoms and a bunch of silver-bullets usually winning the game with Spirit of the Night. The deck has only gotten stronger thanks to some of the current creatures in MTG;
Some examples;
Vengevine - Gives the deck a semi-aggro option similar to the lists that got Survival banned, that also lessons it's dependence on RN.
Kokusho, the Evening Star - Self explanitory; especially effective when combined with Great Whale/Palinchron :evil:
Ashen Rider - Angel of Despair 2.0 has amazing synergy with RN.
Iona, Shield of Emeria - Again, no explanation needed.
The Praetors; namely Elesh Norn and Sheoldred - just adds another level of control.
I could go on, but the point is clear; the deck has a lot of options and is quite strong.

I never played it but always loved the idea of it. Is it playable at all in legacy? I know survival got banned but I wish there was something to do with recurring nightmare.

It's one of the more fun "OP" decks to play IMO.
As far as current Legacy, I know some Nic-Fit builds run Recurring Nightmare. MTGS has a decent primer about it here. It's basically a Green Sun's Zenith deck that runs as more of a control build then Maverick. Look pretty solid, but I've never played it.

Awesome, thanks! I'll check it out!

I forgot to mention it, but I have a huge fondness for prison decks. Something about shutting the opponent down slowly and gradually is just fun. And it's usually "clever" combos that get the work done. I have a terrible time playing control because I'm always so anxious, but if it's a Prison deck, I can relax and let the pieces fall together.

First prison deck I ever made on my own was something like centered around Winter Orb, Pendrell Mists, Propaganda, and Nature's Revolt. This was Mirage Tempest Standard before Exodus made everything super-utility combo. That deck would just shut you down and made you cry. I loved it. Borrowed the basic concept from an article in InQuest that just tried to slow the opponent down; I added green to shut them down entirely. Good times.

I've also had a Modern mono-white Hokori, Dust Drinker prison deck for years that has never quite worked right. Good times.

I have a tendency to draw towards making mean decks and then find out I'm too much of a wuss to play them.

Natural War Zone. I haven't even managed to assemble all of the pieces yet, but I've been working towards it ever since it was featured in From The Lab. Basically, it's Contested War Zone + Mirrorweave + Nature's Revolt = Gain control of all creatures and lands.

Also a deck that the local shop owner assembled that used Nivmagus Elemental and Possibility Storm to get out Borborygmos Enraged, and/or Omniscience alongside Enter the Infinite. It was a thing of beauty, let me tell you.
