Yeah, baby! Infest is back, and with an upside. Mono-Blue Devotion is going to hate this.

This will be a very powerful card in standard and could potentially see the format moving away from devotion decks. On top of that it's very good against mono red and white weenie strategies. Obviously plausible in midrange and control strategies either in the main deck or sideboards. I believe this card has the potential to be format warping.

Well, Anger of the Gods wasn't good enough to do this, so I hope you're right.

Being red is different. red decks don't want to kill their stuff. look at mono black devotion. The only thing this kills is pack rats when they are small. Esper control is a deck that has been out of favor and could come back because of this. Some cards may have the same functional text but play very different because of the color it is. It's context dependent.

I agree with Chu here. Being black makes this card a lot different than Anger of the Gods, as the power-level of that color is much higher than Red in the current Standard cardpool. This should shut out Aggro strategies pretty hard, as it will most likely end up a staple in Mono-Black Devotion. It hurts Mono-Blue Devotion, though not as bad as most people believe. It hits their one-drops and Tidebender, but is rather ineffective outside of that. Still, the chance to two-for-one in Mono-Black Devotion has been missing for a while, and I think this will lean the matchup more heavily in favor of Mono-Black. I see Mono-Black Devotion and Esper becoming the top two archetypes from the previous meta.

And with this card, B/x Control decks in Limited are looking a lot better, and W/x Aggro decks a lot worse.

This is amazing. Non white control decks not having access to Supreme Verdict really hurt them, now this kind of fixes that. If Blue/Black control is good I will be super happy

Totally format warping. Which I guess is a good way to get people to switch decks and buy more cards.
In mono blue you can replace the tide binders with omenspeakears... But do you just drop the 1 drops for non creatures and go more controlly.

Maybe this is some nudging to force fast aggro to be heroic and get their guys above 2 toughness. Just ruins RDW and Rakdos Aggro. I mean, Anger of the Gods does too, but you have to be very heavy red for that and hard to play in a control shell.

You still get tokens from Xathrid Necromancer, right? Toughness <= 0 == "Dies"

I just want to say again that I love this card. I run 4x Infest in my Modern sideboard and cannot wait to switch them out for these guys. If only they had full-art versions...
