In my head you could make a 3x1 grid or even one with uneven length for each column and row, although at that point you might argue you could just arrange them diagonally, so I don't really know.

If you have 7 creatures you can give three of them one counter, two of them two counters, and one of them three counters.

I can't help but notice that my great enthusiasm for Cycle of Violence's design is not reflected in this community.

it's because arranging all creatures into a circle is impossible. if it read "arrange all creatures into an n-gon" it would be the best card ever

Cos I ain't looking forward to finding actual card presentation for that one guy at the table playing the token deck with 20 1/1 something out.

Ignoring it is gonna be more of a hexagon than a circle, if there are like 20 creatures on the battlefield, the players will have to either complete the circle on the floor or seize an empty table.

I think you're supposed to bend the cards to get a nice circle shape.

Strictly speaking Cycle of Violence is the only one where you actually don't need to make the geometrical shape, in practice it's just a sequence of bite spells that loops back on itself, it's just less verbose and more thematically resonant to conceptualize it as a circle. It's not like the spell fails if you don't make a perfect circle, you can also just do any kind of winding snake biting its own tail.

As someone who primarily play on MTGO, I kinda wanna watch the system struggle to perform the action. Probably would look rather cinematic on Arena.

But the card says a circle, Mown.

*Puts on the nerd hat and swirly glasses*

A circle is defined by the dictionary as "a closed plane curve consisting of all points at a given distance from a point within it called the center. Equation: x 2 + y 2 = r 2 ."
