that sounds like a great idea, Cucho. I could totally see myself doing that. Maybe one of those Antarctic cruises, or even if not.

Full economic collapse. You need a workforce to support an economy.

Did you see their stimulus bazooka this year? It's insane.

Since i'm guessing you got distracted by DJ's good news about his smoking

Dj,

You deserve more props than that. You inspired me too. We were out with friends to see a comedy show Monday (she's a Vet and had free tix) and I was offered a cig 3 times by her and my best friend. I turned them down each time. Thanks for inspiring me and good luck on the rest of your trip.

We got to see Darrell Hammond and Tom Arnold. My wife didn't know either of them except when I told her Tom was in Austin Powers, her favorite comedy.

No clue what blueannon is. My friend has quit X for Blue Sky though and seems much happier

Lotta blue folk making a public spectacle about leaning Twitter for blue sky. I’ve never been on that but I am told it’s Truth Social for libs. I don’t care who uses which social media platform but it seems a little silly to me to abandon Twitter for echo chambers like Truth for righties or Sky for lefties

I get peeps are really pissed about Musk backing Trump but Twitter still has a fairly diverse ideological user base and if you follow diverse accounts you can get a good feel for the different sides. If you’re upset the election results caught you off guard it seems counter productive to seek a tighter echo chamber…

My wife's Endometriosis came back. She had Stage 4 in 2019 and got surgery a couple months after the lockdown, only once 'non-mandatory' restrictions were lifted.

Her uterine lining grows outside the uterus instead of inside, or in addition to. So it turns into these fibers that spread out and connect to everything else in your abdomen. Like a spider web connecting all your internal organs and muscles. So when her cycle hits it hits all her organs and feels 10x worse.

Last time the doctor said it looked like a spider web. This time they're saying it looks like a palm tree. So way worse.

I feel like **** because I've been pursuing this creative job. My kids are all grown up and I have less responsibilities so I was taking time to pursue something more creative instead of some technical, corporate job. That means my health insurance is running out soon which is why I feel like an ass hole right now. I got to get back to a normal job with health insurance now....

To BB, about the EV thing. Toyota came up with a 1-6-90 rule which breaks it down nicely. For the rare materials needed to make 1 EV you could make 6 Plug-In Hybrids or 90 Hybrids.

Most of us can own Hybrids or a few of us can own Teslas.

Of course this also cuts into the amount of solar panels we can make.

but Musk makes EVs, so I’m guessing EVs are back on the menu baby!

Or not... looks like they plan to cut the $7,500 EV subsidy, and Musk is supposedly on board.

I guess they really do plan on killing the US EV market.

How's that going to work in California, with the statewide mandate to switch? (Obviously, these are early days, so I doubt politicians have reacted yet).

I don't know man. The mandate itself was idiotic, so I wouldn't be so sure.

they can't possibly have just idealists creating policy, there's gotta be some pragmatic people in there. Really hope so.

The original mandate reminded me of JFK's "we will land a man on the moon" so i like the idea of reaching, but at this point it's clearly impossible. Also JFK didn't put it into law that we had to be on the moon in ten years, he just called for a mandate to make it happen. That's the better way to approach these things.

Do you, or don’t you believe in the dangers of global warming, BB?

I do. I'm not sure "believe" is the right word.

I have become convinced of it in the same way that I've become convinced Napoleon is a real person and ruler of France around the turn of the 19th century.

The point I'm trying to make is that if you "believe" in the effect of Global Warming, then you don't see California's acts as idealistic, but rather desperate.

I don't think there's much reason to try to stop global warming, because I think mitigation is going to be cheaper than prevention, but if you disagree then you want things like EVs at all costs.

Honestly, I'm being a little too absolutist, but I was just thinking in terms of California's perspective.

You don't have to be as absolutist as they are to think Global Warming is a BIG deal, while still thinking EVs are stupid.

Reading the last few posts, I think I suggested otherwise, and I don't intend to stand with that position.

Napoleon is fake af. We’re supposed to believe a short fugly dood conquered Europe? Seeing his ambitions and eventually his empire circle the drain after a battle at a place named ‘water toilet’. And then they named a ****ty ice cream flavor after him (that takes France’s flag colors and replaces blue with poop brown… again, WaterLOO???)?

Suuurrree. And he spends his summers hanging out with Santa Claus up in the North Pole

The only thing I find difficult to believe in the Napoleon story is that France actually won a military battle

France is gonna become a big deal again as the dominant country of the Western European bloc. Not sure if Hungary or Turkey will dominate east. Imagine it’s Turkey but I dunno
