But thats also why EVs will never outpace Hybrids in energy efficiency; every technological advance that would help EVs be more efficient also helps Hybrid. Hybrids also benefits from advancements in ICE tech, so it will always be ahead.

You can regenerate a huge battery from a gigantic remote energy factory or you can regenerate a small battery from an tiny energy factory sitting 5 feet away from it. There is no amount of infrastructure imorovements that can beat that efficency.

Also; i had a car that got 80mpg in the 90s off a cool air intake turbo charged Inline-3. Yes 3 cylinders. We've had that tech for decades. If you were to put a hybrid battery in an old Chevy Turbo Sprint (read; Geo Metro) then we could all be driving around in 120+mpg cars. But we don't want to.
