Feel like I'm talking into the void but here i go again there's always going to be a percentage of the population that doesn't vote, most of them just use the excuse of "my vote doesn't matter,so why should I"

Roughly 244 million Americans will be eligible to vote in 2024, out of that how many do you think will actually vote? Mind you the 2020 election saw record turnout of 66.6% of eligible voters, which means that roughly 34% of eligible voters did not vote for any number of reasons including apathy.

If the US is like the rest of the world -which it is- that number is growing. Its to no one a surprise that your democracy is under treat right now. And I think its in your best interest to keep and eye to your electoral system.

Yes, that number has gone up over the years, but you do realize that it isn't only the electoral system that drives folks to be apathic right? Even countries with enforced compulsory voting don't have 100%

The problem Cucho is that you, and people who agree with you, think you can change the results of US elections by changing the system. I don’t think you’re right. There would be no reason to change the system, unless the system is screwing up some better results. And I don’t think there’s any evidence of that, at all.

If your response to the above is “but Trump,” I’m sorry, but that’s not an effect of the system itself.

I mean I have been asking to put aside partisanahip for a while now, I dont even propose changes to the electoral system until asked for, coz I think that change in this regard is not even plausible in the US.. I dunno what to tell you that I havent said about 3-4 times already.

It doesn’t bother me that my presidential vote doesn’t matter cause my state is undoubtedly going to Harris. There are other items up for vote to draw me to the election booth. And there have been measures I’ve supported or opposed before that I knew didn’t matter what way I voted because the outcome was not in doubt, on things that don’t involve the electoral college.

Cucho… Do you often try to fix things that are not broken? Do you try to improve things when the improvements, even if they are possible, won’t be meaningful?

You mention impossible changes, but the reason those change are impossible isn’t some failure of the US. The reason those changes won’t happen is that they wouldn’t be worth changing. Not because of difficulty, but rather because the result of the change would not be significant. The ends, in other words, aren’t justified.

Our system isn't under threat due to the way it works, it's under threat due to people. A system is only as good as the folks who use it.

I sold my chili last week. I started working on my chili during lockdown and I got it down pretty damn good. My wife's parents have a food truck and they wanted to add something new to the menu and chili can just about be put on anything so now I'm making a couple bucks a week selling a crockpot of chili to them.

And my wife just got an agent yesterday. Her aunt is working in some TV show and the kid stars "momanager" is trying to get a full on agency going so they talked a bit. Then she got pitched her first job today as a principal on some kids TV show. The actress got sick so she's getting to fill in for what could be a recurring role.
