quick background (not important): CFA institute is basically the US-based global institute for CFA charterholders (of which I belong), the gold standard for investment professionals globally. Anyway, that's not important but debuting a DEI Code in ASIA?!?!

what could that possibly even mean over there? I honestly don't a clue. It's probably the least diverse continent on the planet. I don't think they have any intention of ever changing that either.

We finished reading Fairy Tale by Stephen King. Charlie is a normal 17 year old boy living a normal life in Illinois who finds himself entrusted with the protection of a strange and awesome world. He first goes there fighting to save his dog and then himself and everyone in it. It was a really good book. Emotional in parts. Had my wife crying and me choked up a little. If you like adventure books with tons of references to The Brothers Grimm and others 8ncluding Piers Anthony and Lovecraft them you're going to love it.

Just read that it is getting a 10 episode series made based on the story. The story only had a couple of writers and producers attached to it so still very early. It's being made by A24 so I'm worried a little. Most A24 productions seem low budget. That's not always a bad thing, some amazing movies have had low budgets. A24 also seems to take a shotgun approach throwing tons of movies out and hoping a few land with some audience out there. I hope they give this project a good budget and the time and people it needs to shine. That said, not all Stephen King adaptations are that good. There are a lot of his stories that just didn't translate well to the screen and this could be one of them.

A24 takes risks which I love. They will miss sometimes (maybe often) but they never play it safe which is the ONLY way great things will ever be made. Hope they never lose that.

MaXXXine is on streaming for free today and it's my wife's birthday so that was one of the horror movies we watched. It was a really **** good movie. Not quite a horror movie, oh there were horrible things that happened, but more like a Noir Cop Drama told from one of the suspect/victims POV instead of the cops POV. Goth has been fantastic thru this trilogy and I can't wait to see what she does next.

I don’t like Kamala (believe the things that turned voters against her when she bombed in past primary season are still there and current support is propped up by anti-Trump sentiments rather than pro-Kamala ones) but this race shouldn’t be close. Dems should have been able to put up a retarded monkey in a cheap suit and still easily beat Trump.

An interesting thing I’ve noticed over the past week or two on Twitter is leftists realizing they have a serious problem with the young male demographic. Amusingly, rather than recognizing that the issue is rooted in the rampant misandry that is tolerated and often celebrated on that side of the isle (like the rights problem with women), the consensus seems to be it’s because they’re brainwashed incels with no legitimate grievance against the new left’s treatment of them and their interests, and the need is to intensify efforts to educate them on their privilege and Fix them. The problem isn’t that the new left has open contempt for masculine interests and has been gleefully attacking them and subverting every cultural feature that used to speak to them, the real problem is that men haven’t gotten on board with their vision for them and accepted it. No need to adjust course, just double down on the current one
