man, i had no idea. I've never used yards ever. How are soccer fields measured in yards, btw? I've watched plenty of soccer and I've never heard yards mentionned ONCE in a game. Whereas each and every football game talks about yards the entire time.

can't believe you made no comment on the Shogun thing. you're basically Mr. Shogun here and are the only reason I even watched it

not sure if anyone is interesting in ads at all here, but the new Nespresso ad campaign has a very Benetton-feel to it

Oh, sorry. Yeah, Shogun definitely deserved praise. 18 Emmy's is a huge deal for them.

Regarding soccer, it's called the 18 yard box for a reason, lol, and that reason is not because it's the 16.5 meter box.

All soccer field dimensions are based on yards, because yards were the measure used when the game was invented.

Gonna try to watch Grave of the Fireflies tonight for the first time. It just came to the Netflix and I’ve never seen it. I made an attempt earlier but I fell asleep almost right away.

Between the animation and reading subtitles, my eyes just get wiped out

—-

Hey i just saw a red lobster commercial! Where are they getting the money?!

—/

Oh man that Grave of the Fireflies is one heartbreaking film.

Because of the Emmy’s, my next three watches will be:

1. Baby Reindeer
2. Blue Eye Samurai
3. Love on the Spectrum

—-

Watched Grave of the Fireflies for the first time tonight. I feel like I haven’t been properly prepared by friends/society before I saw it.

Nowadays, people that see Up must know what they’re getting into for that first ten minutes.

My heart is shattered. What a film.

I was going to warn you but thought it would be better that you did not know just how heartbreaking that film is.

Blue Eye Samurai is pretty good.

You did the right thing, I wasn’t expecting such a deep, sad movie. I was super happy and giddy for much of it, taking joy when the little sister is experiencing joy. Miyazaki clearly has been studying his granddaughters and the way they move, giggle and are happy. It was all so believable to watch.

I’m in disbelief that I’ve never heard anyone ever talk about how sad the movie is. I’ve heard a few times that it’s great but that’s it. It doesn’t come up when people talk about his best movie. You hear Spirited Away and one or two other titles but that’s it

More surpringly, when UP came out, everyone talked about how sad it was. I don’t know how this movie didn’t get brought up in those discussions. It’s way sadder and way better.

And it’s a very different kind of sad. That short animated film that won an Oscar, “If Anything Happens I Love You” has me basically crying for pretty much the entire length of the short. But Fireflies didn’t make me cry, but made me deeply sad and that accelerated after the movie was done. Like, I couldn’t escape the sadness and it just got worse and worse. so much to think about, so many beautiful images. That closing shot was incredible

I do run TT's sixty just not as often as I should. I get caught up doing other things. Like tonight is racing with TCase. This week it's multiclass. You can choose the MX5 Roadster or the GR4 Mustang. We will start at DRC as usual then winners will pick the next track.
Since I got my B/S again I rarely do dailies but love Brands and wanted to see if it's possible to make a run for A this week so laid down some qualy times last night.

Yeah I kept refreshing the story assuming it’s a prank

It’s right out of a Bourne movie, Black Mirror episode or a Gerald Butler revenge flick lol

Not the first time Mossad has done something like it

As far back as 1972, as part of their revenge on the Palestine Liberation Organization for the killing of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics, Mossad operatives swapped out the marble base of the phone used by Mahmoud Hamshari, the PLO’s representative in Paris, in his French apartment. On December 8, when he answered the phone, a nearby Israeli team remotely detonated the explosives packed inside the replica base. Hamshari lost a leg and later died.

In 1996, Israel’s internal security agency, Shin Bet, managed to trick Yahya Ayyash, a skilled Hamas bombmaker responsible for the killing of dozens of Israelis, into accepting a call from his father on a Motorola Alpha cell phone brought into Gaza by a Palestinian collaborator. Hidden inside the phone was about 50g of explosives

EDIT: Anyone think we're going to have a shut down as the October surprise?

Just watched ep4 of Baby Reindeer. An episode around sexual violence. Man, I’m really putting myself through the ringer lately with the stuff I’m watching

Do terrorist attacks happen inside or outside of an open war?

IF Israel was directly involved I would say it's an Act of War. I seriously doubt Israel will ever confirm they were involved.

If it is someone else, or an Israeli acting outside the government's directive then yeah, it's a terrorist attack.

But isn’t Hezbollah a terrorist organization? You can’t do acts of terrorism against a terrorist group. You just kill them

It would depend where you draw the line on non-combatants.

If you consider them non-combatants then it’s a terrorist attack. I guess you could also call it a terrorist attack if it hurt a lot of non-combatants. But otherwise no.

Let's not jump to conclusions without evidence.

Israel has one of the largest tech industries in the world next to San Farancisco/Palo Alto, California. It's entirely possible this was an individual acting outside the states authority.

With that said I'm about 60/40 - thinking it probably was (60) state sanctioned. Until there is evidence though, that's merely speculation.
