It's honestly shocking how many rights illegal immigrants have.

The only argument I'd accept as to why they should have the right to keep and bear arms is that if you make that distinction for illegal immigrants, it might be used to justify illegal search and seizures of and from people who are here legitimately (like legal immigrants, and US citizens).

But, that's probably a fairly legitimate argument, and it has a lot of precedence with other similar issues - like ID requirements, proof of legal status requirements, etc.

Since they basically said that illegal immigrants under US law aren't people, you could in theory use the ruling as an argument to toss out all protections this would mainly be rights regarding the legal system. They also defined the the last part of the equal protection clause which states "nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws" So states could in theory start making citizenship requirements for schools.

That article didn’t say they aren’t people as in human beings, but rather The People, as in citizens of the US.

My support for illegal alien rights exists mostly to avoid abuse of Latin Americans who are in our country legally. I don’t know of any reason why, for example, we’d be schooling children who are not here legally. Being here legally changes everything for me, but I’m not at all sure why that distinction is even political. I’ve always found it a bit weird, if I’m honest. It’s certainly one of the places where I disagree with Democrats. If there were a way, without disadvantaging actual American citizens (and that’s really hard to do), I would be in favor of much stricter laws.

Tbf to me, before I get accused of some nonsense, I’m also in favor of greatly expanding access to immigration to the US, alongside harsher penalties for violating immigration laws. This is not some anti Latin American position, or xenophobia, I’m just pro laws.
