It’s an almost impossible subject to actually discuss cuz any attempt to draw out elements, conclusions or especially analysis is going to trigger or offend someone

I think the only way to discuss it is to litter any contribution post with statements of sympathy for the “victims” and admonishment for the offenders. Basically at the beginning AND end of every post or people will completely misinterpret each point/post. It’s why press releases always have this stuff and anyone that makes the foolish attempt to tweet something gets shredded to pieces.

Btw Cucho the Justice system basically says that it is a competition. Some acts are worse than others.

They range from being a terrible date like Aziz up to the very common sexual harassment like Ailes, up to sexual gatekeeping like Harvey and then onto full blown rape like Cosby

Any attempt to not segregate these crimes is drawing false equivalence between the acts which range from exercising poor judgment up to full blown criminal felonies

I just wonder why, specifically, him.

For example:

1) was he the worst offender?
1.5) was he the only offender? (it's not impossible, btw, just highly improbable)
2) the least important person?
3) did he piss someone more important off?
4) etc...

I mean come on...

Nobody high up at other production companies?
Nobody responsible for hiring fashion models?
Nobody responsible for hiring on air talent - like news personalities?
Nobody responsible for finding and recruiting future pop stars?

The whole thing beggars belief to me.

That's not entirely true. There were other producers, directors and actors that got taken down too. Some unjustly, as we're learning about later. Weinstein was just the biggest one to go down AND had the most cases against him.

Do you think Weinstein was sufficiently awful to give the whole industry that reputation? It could be, you know. 87 is a LOT of people, and I'm sure we'd agree that was not the full list, probably not even close. Maybe he really was the only one, or the only one even remotely that bad, and that's why they threw the book at him -> in which case, so be it, good riddance.

The thing I want to know: how did he not, almost immediately, develop that reputation?

I've been in large, but not necessarily close-knit, communities before. I bet I could tell you every DJ, in Houston, that ever slept with an underage fan (from roughly 98 to 03). I also know why nothing was done about it. But it definitely was not secret, and if they were as egregious as Weinstein, something would definitely have been done about it, within the community. These things come out, everybody knows. And that's way before Social Media, which would have made that kind of thing lightning fast.

Yeah, but what about Caligula?

He was assassinated at the age of 29 after 3.5 years of a complete failure as emporer of Rome. We can all thank Aggripa, that crazy bitch.

Oh boy, I’m gonna become a DJ.

any of you ever watch the series , America to Me?

It’s like one of the best reviewed tv series of all time so I decided to watch it (it’s a Starz original). All on race in Chicago. Only watched one episode out of ten so far but it’s really solid, reminds me of s4 of The Wire except that it’s real

In more dumb political nonsense A GOP group is claiming with a straight face that the Dred Scott decision as a reason Kamala Harris can’t be president.

The National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA) has cited the infamous 1857 Dred Scott Supreme Court decision, which stated that enslaved people weren’t citizens, to argue that Vice President Kamala Harris is ineligible to run for president according to the Constitution.

The group also challenged the right of Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley to appear on Republican primary ballots.

The Republican group’s platform and policy document noted that “The Constitutional qualifications of Presidential eligibility” states that “No person except a natural born Citizen, shall be eligible, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

Hey wait a minute, how can DJs be sleeping with underage fans when you need to be of age in order to get into the club where DJ’s play?? Are DJ’s turning records at the Chuck E Cheese?

I wasn't a club DJ, don't get me wrong I did that a few times but that wasn't my thing at all. Also, many girls have no problem getting into clubs when they are way under age, but that's a different (probably extremely related discussion that also features gatekeepers, typically known as bouncers) discussion.

I was a rave DJ, and those events were not held at drinking establishments, and therefore other than some logical limits, were all ages.

There were certainly 16 and 17 year olds in attendance, and that would be flat out illegal for a 20/21 year-old (or even older) DJ to pursue, or allow themselves to be pursued by (the latter was generally the case, but not always, the former was certainly frowned upon).

The point being, there were grown men in close proximity to teenage girls, and some of those grown men didn't have the moral compass they probably should have had.

Thanks Barney. Your birthday wishes always make me smile.

I think Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is one of those movies I want to watch in 4DX. It's only 1h 44m long and you just know Burton loves the flying camera effect. I think it's one of the movies 4DX was made for.

About to hike a ravine in Palos Verdes where you can see a wide view of L.A. then we're getting brunch at our favorite spot Good Stuff

Tell me more about this brunch spot. That sounds like my jam

Ugh, you couldn’t pay me to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (jeez, I wonder what the 3rd one will be called?). I hated the first one

I think you should go see Longlegs instead for your birthday and then we can talk about that and how your wife got freaked out

—-

3 episodes into America to Me now. Amazing high school
Documentary series on race. Honestly feels similar to season 4 of The Wire except it’s real life

Really funny scene (not meant to be funny tho): group discussion on racism and students are asked to share a story of negative racism they encountered in their lives. Every black
Kid shares a horrific story, like really negative and awful and hateful. Almost NONE of the Asian kids have any stories to share and then this one fat Filipino boy says “people keep thinking I’m Mexican”

LOL. I can’t even begin to count the number of layers as to how funny that is

Good Stuff is amazing. Mimosas, bellinis and more. They have this Cinnamon Roll French Toast that is to die for. Their hashbrowns and bacon are thick and always cooked to crispy perfection.

There's this one smokeshow of a server that my wife is in love with. Beautiful face, plastic surgery, tall, tramp stamp, the whole nine yards. We rarely see her anymore but my wife looks forward to that.

Also, I hate you LOL

Thanks my friend. You'd love this place to. The Thursday special is a Churro Waffle! Guess what I'm getting for brunch?
