Sorry DJ, but Trump just destroyed your theory that it is the left wings fault for escalating violence because they keep saying "Trump is a threat to democracy." I slightly agreed with you that kind of rhetoric is irresponsible but them Trump goes and says **** like this.
Trump said: "Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians."
That's a direct quote from several sources like AP and Reuters so it does appear, on a surface level analysis of that comment; that he honestly is a threat to democracy.

I'm not sure I was saying anything other than it could lead to violence. It's hard to say someone is an existential threat to democracy, and also say it's a bad thing when someone takes pot shots at that person. If the first is true, then can you really say that the latter is bad? Is it pure hypocrisy?
The new Trump quote is terrible, but I'm sure the idiot just means, "I don't care if you never vote again, so long as you vote for me this last time." I'm just translating pure Narcissist into normal English.
Yeah, fine, BB... but we also need to figure out how to reduce the likelihood that these individuals get targeted. I'ver never, in my life, seen the level of vitriol we currently have in US politics. I think it's mostly Trump's fault, and I don't think my opinion will change on that subject. But, the Democrats are absolutely complicit in the problems we currently face. The Democrats want it both ways, and they can't have it both ways. You cannot denounce the attempt to assassinate a man you have painted as an existential threat to America. You simply can't. He's either dangerous, a future dictator, and someone who will forever change the country for the worse, OR he's not. If it's the former, don't denounce attempts on his life, you asked for them with your political positions, even if you never said it out loud.
Trump gets painted with that brush as well every single time he's accused of making dog whistles for the far right arm of the Republican Party. And he paints himself with that brush every single time he makes veiled or overt threats to people, his political opponents, etc.

"He's an existential threat, BUT we're going to beat him at the polls..." sounds completely stupid, because it IS completely stupid. BUT, that is exactly the message from the Biden campaign, and the Democrats in general. This is yet another reason why I want Biden the **** out of this election, immediately.
Here's my actual quote from before. I still stand by it. There's nuance there that I think should make my position fairly clear: if you say threat, then don't be surprised when people take you seriously, and do something about it. And it becomes hard, when you have been calling someone a threat to then denounce actions by people who might be trying to eliminate that threat.
