No we cannot... you must vote for an idiot, get over it and choose your poison.

Also, after hearing that performance, I'm going into politics. I will do my best and become the leading presidential candidate for the United States, all in the hopes that someone successfully attempts to assassinate me. That was terrible.

Shannon Dougherty died? She can’t have been that old. She seemed to be appearing in a bunch of TV movies or something. I wasn’t a fan at all. I much preferred Jennie Garth or especially Tiffany Amber Theissen (who I think has changed names).

Loved Martin Mull too. He was so great in Arrested Development as private detective, Gene Parmesan lol

Spoiler

Still happy to update my priors if more evidence emerges but don’t believe it was teleprompter glass

I just saw this image:

Also: “11 Investigates has learned that four Pittsburgh police officers assigned to the former president’s motorcade yesterday suffered minor injuries during the shooting.
Sources tell Chief Investigator Rick Earle the officers were just feet away from Trump when shots rang out. The four officers suffered minor injuries from flying debris caused by the bullets.
Sources say the officers were hit with either plastic or metal fragments when the bullets struck objects nearby.”

I haven’t caught any responses yet for why he would have donated to Dems but not really be a supporter.

Update #2: I have now heard a response to this. Apparently the donation was made by a 60-something yo guy with the same name.

Yes.

I think that image may be fake, fyi.

Shocking as it sounds, Trump was very likely missed (for a fatal shot) by less than an inch.

Yeah the caliber of rifles is often so high that any headshot anywhere is fatal. To graze an ear means were talking less than inch, no?

Hearing lots of buzz about the VP choice but there’s too much noise to make sense of it

lol… why on earth did Trump choose this guy again? He became a lickspittle, but is already on record saying what he said. I look forward to the quotes and videos getting airplay for the next few months.

I really don’t know anything more about him than that he wrote Hillbilly Elegy, but my guess is he chose him to throw a bone to the rural blue collar part of his base. Think Pence choice was for the religious right and Vance is for the ‘hillbilly’ right

I think choosing him really nerfs the democrats ability to appeal to the working man. Trump was already doing that in a non intelligent way, and shockingly effective coming from a guy who grew up with money

Vance is the total incarnation of populism. He represents the very very old Republican Party of the past. He grew up poor in the Appalachian mountains. He is very outspoken about what de-industrialization and globalization did to Kentucky and Ohio.

He’s also very intelligent. It’s very much the antidote to trump. He doesn’t come from money and is very much against the current values of the Republican Party. He is against globalization and isn’t pro-corporation the way the current Republican Party is. This makes him a perfect fit for Trumpism, arguably an even better fit than Trump himself.

This is enormously damaging to democrats cuz thé center and the left are supposed to be the torch-holders for the poor and the working man. But Dems aren’t seen that way since Hillary ran that disaster of a campaign that ignored rural America completely.

The Dems are likely seen as the party for city folk, elites and intelligent-like.

Dems are gonna have a really hard time putting themselves as better representatives than Vance for all those people that Hillary burned. I don’t dislike Hillary or anything but that was the easiest election in the history of America to win and her campaign really dropped the ball.

Democrats ARE the party of city folks, lol. I don’t know about elites, or the intelligent, but the city folk concept is not even up for debate.

As for Vance, I think he’s a terrible choice, bordering on insane choice. Democrats should simply use his own words against Trump. His own VP choice called him America’s Hitler, ffs.

Judging from what I’ve seen of both trump and Republican supporters, I don’t think words really matter to them. Even actions don’t seem to matter match.

As for city folk, you’re right that’s heavy blue but I thought republicans were the party for the rich, and don’t all the rich live in cities. What am I even saying, the rich isn’t exactly a big voting bloc, they just have tremendous influence on policy

Republican supporters aren’t the goal though. They need people in the middle, and those people will, at a minimum, laugh when Trump is pinioned by Vance’s words. And at a maximum, it will influence their votes.

… and no… both parties are the party of the rich. lol

The left will be dunking on Vance like Shaq in his prime. He's a walking contradiction of himself. He doesn't support equal rights for anyone except rich white parents.

He's extremely reactionary and appears to have no long term memory which results in him tweeting anger about things he's supported in the past simply because someone on the left did or supported it.

His only saving grace is that he was a Marine. People will eat that up.

I have zero intention to watch any presidential debate but I do believe I'd like to see Kamala against this guy in the VP debate

I’m still hoping they replace Biden AND Harris.

Trump was a 1 out of 10, now he’s a 3. Biden is at best a 2. Maybe we can find a 4, lol.

Or, and I’m just spitballing here, we could try to find someone anyone would actually vote FOR…

i'm guessing the vetting process is much harder to pass because everything everyone has ever said is recorded so there must be some photos, tweets, or anything for a majority of people that make them too much of a risk to run in a general election.

I really would love to see an actively participated democratic convention with a strong candidate or two. That's what sunk Carter's reelection chances (along with Iran, obv) but I think it's necessary here.

The most important thing going on today… Michelin Guide is coming to Texas. Yeehaaaaaaaaw folks… the Michelin stars at night are big and bright…. Deep in the hearrrrrrrrt of Texas…

Silly things aside, it’s about damn time. There are so many restaurants deserving of stars in Houston… this is coming from someone who absolutely eats at starred restaurants whenever possible. I would not be surprised if there are 10 or more awarded in the first year, and we don’t even really have that many candidates, because most of the restaurants are too big to qualify. This will surely change, and I bet it changes quickly.

I dunno if i told here but, I won a scholarship and I am doing a diploma in communication on public policies, that's a bit where I'm coming from these past posts, and these stuff seems like the kind of knowledge Trump has mastered, for instance now with the incident... he is telling a powerful story, he is a survivor, and people will make sense to all his actions under that frame, that's why facts and words seem to have no influence on how he is perceived... coz "he survives", "he endures", "he can't be stopped", and no matter what happens now, that's the frame the majority of the US will use to think about Trump.

I super recommend George Lakoff and this book in particular, or this vid.

oooo DJ, that's exciting. I'm not sure I've ever even eaten in a Michelin-starred resto, and I like me some nice restaurants.

If I come to Houston, we should check one out when it comes. When they release their initial list, be sure to post it here. Would love to see what kinds of places get in there. i don't even know how their star system works.
