The exciting high point of my day today was watching someone get arrested at work.
How are you all doing?

There's a certain amount of fascination I have that mankind has managed to attain the position we have in nature compared to predators. Every other creature knows to go silent and still if they detect something, but here we come and we caterwaul "hello? What's out there" if something disrupts the peace.

I mean, humans are vengeful pack creatures, the instinct may well be to alert other humans to the potential threat.

Which makes sense, if only for the fact that the instinct doesn't seem to go away in the face of common sense when you know there's nobody else around.

In situations like this, rather than saying anything, I prefer to give a low, guttural growl or loud berserker war cry.

Or say something really creepy in a vaguely English accent, speaking just slightly slower than one ought to, saying something like, "Well, well, well. Isn't this interesting, Mr. Perkins. Another guest for the dinner party..."

:shifty:

...

:D

Slow days around, how's everyone been holding up in their bunkers?

I've been alright, but highly unmotivated. Also, I had a bit of a health issue last week. I won't go into details except to say that ultimately I'm just fine.

I'll be doing a lot of travelling for the next month or so, but I'll have my computer with me, so I'll still be able to check in.

I hope everyone else is doing alright.

Sorry to hear, but at least you shrugged it off, seemingly.
My own health has been a bit of contention, insofar as my allergies have been worse this year than ever before. Sinus agitation has given me migraines a few times over the past few weeks and I wouldn't recommend that particular experience.

And interesting to hear you'll be about. Hopefully you'll have time to enjoy it.

Tomorrow I'm saying goodbye to the sixth graders I've been teaching this year. It has not been an easy task, and I'm looking forward to spending the summer with my family. It is hard being a teacher in a class which has a fundamental mistrust for the school and everyone who works there.

I've taught for thirteen years, and I still get a little emotional on the last day. Obviously, some classes more or less than others, and I'm dealing with adults two or three times a week rather than kids presumably every day, so I feel for you. Rest well knowing that you did your best for them, and remember that you never know who will one day think of you as their favorite teacher!

How's everyone doing? I know I've been more or less radio silent, but I wanted to check in.

Work has been kicking the crap out of me.
Somewhat unexpectedly (though not surprisingly) Inside Out 2 has really popped off and it's largely obliterated us. Much of the damage was done last week, but we did not have sufficient recuperation over the week to weather the next weekend. And then, as if to make matters worse, it finally trickled down to the individual locations that there's a supply chain issue which has apparently been going on behind the scenes for a while and is now so far gone they can't hide it anymore.
So... that ain't great.

Aside from that, there's little else that ever goes on in my life. I'm too much a homebody to get out to meet anyone, so my romantic life is non-existent. My cats are doing fine, I guess. Weirdly one of them has decided to invade my closet, so... she's going to be in there for like the next 2 weeks.

Mostly just been watching things to pass time when not working. Painting is somewhat on hold as I go into building mode for a lot of my kits, which... I probably shouldn't add more to the stuff I need to paint, but que sera. I have a pretty chunky backstock of games I should justify buying by... y'know, playing them, but it's been a low energy kind of time.
I hardly find time to read these days, but I did make my way through Princess of Mars most recently.

And that's been my very boring life.

I've been travelling, and it's been a bit harder to check in than I expected, but everything is going well. I am having a good time, so that's what matters, right?

I have also started in on Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. I had never read them before and I figured I would try a few. I've only read three so far, but I'm enjoying them. The world is a fun and irreverent place, and I like the narrative voice he's been going with. So that's been my reading project of late.

I got to thinking and realized I think it might have been close to 3 years since I actually finished a video game and that is weirdly affecting my existential stability.

I finally went and spent money on Magic Arena. I feel kind of bad for doing the thing I always planned never to do. I figure I've gotten way more value out of the game than the $7.49 CAD I just spent, but I hate rewarding their monetization scheme on principle.
