Well, I can't say I'm not biased in general.
That said, in response to the individual that commented, I want to point at that it would be one thing if all the native allegories were non-human, then they'd have a point. But quite frankly, it's equally problematic if there was NO fantastical representation in those allegories, because it still draws a distinction that 'others' from the general world at large.
Combining both fantastic and humans in the native allegory provides that they are no different than the full extent of the rest of the world. It makes them a natural part of the world that IS defined by its fantastic diversity.

That said, if there's any questions to be had about the overall design process, I'd be happy to chat about what we were doing back then. Guns were my biggest sticking point, since they had wanted to have wands instead, and that was... pathetic, quite frankly.

Speaking as someone who has written several Jakkard stories, most if not all utilizing guns, I am very much willing to admit I was on the wrong side of that debate. In general, I do not like mixing fantasy with guns, and I was initially against the inclusion of guns on Jakkard, but going with wands would have weakened the setting, I think. I am very happy that they went with what they did.
