Check in and sound off my guys
How has everyone been this week?

I'm just popping in to see what condition your condition is in.

Start of Feb is good to me. I should probably question more the drama that's brewing on my in-laws side but for the time being it got me a gift-filled belated birthday so I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth and will instead continue to assemble various snap-fit model kits.

Been struggling a bit to juggle the time for my ttrpg campaigns and related activities, writing and, you know, sleeping, but otherwise all is relatively cool - a friend's brain surgery went well and has set up a group chat to update all her friends about her recovery and be cheered up in return, which is a cool idea. Thankfully my more stressed/stressful coworker is on vacation next week so the work hours should at least be more chill... I may even be able to snag a few hours of writing if things are particularly slow.

Hm... Yeah, I keep forgetting that I meant to get you something else for the birthday, but Xmas was kinda hard to square this year. Sorry if it was a bit disappointing.

As to the brain surgery news from Huey, glad your friend is recovering. Also glad you are getting a break from your coworker.

On my end, as far as work goes, there's a.... Very strong possibility my coworker is probably going to quit tomorrow. I won't get into details, because it's exhausting to relate, but alternately, I'm just glad someone else is getting to be the sin eater at work for a change. Least I can do is be nice to him since everyone else is hating on him so damn much.

In other updates, I've been trying to finish out the 10 decks I've been working on from the overarching theme they're bound in.
In minorly related news, the models that have been sold out for like half a year finally restocked and I snagged some, finishing out.... In theory, one more side of my custom 40k chess sets.

Yikes
Well, hope the search for transportation is fortuitous
The hierarchy problem I hope resolves itself

Also, in general, nice to see you buddy

In my day today, my friend cancelled our weekly chill session, which is effectively my only social activity, so... My week is pretty much shot.
Of more significant news, I had to go get my cat spayed today, so she's not feeling too great and is mad at me insofar as she's lucid

Oof. I can try to send good vibes, but I'm afraid that's about what I can do.

Ffffff....
Capcom is taking a survey for what the consumers want and they're asking about a LOT of old IP that I would cry for joy if they came back to.

..... But they make it so you can only choose 3.

I think I'm going to make unwise financial decisions providing I get an okay tax return.

Well, as long as they bring you some degree of joy and do not endanger your financial future, I say go for it.

I finally foresee enough games to justify getting a PlayStation 5
The major reason it's unwise, beyond just being a heavy expenditure, is I have heaps of games already in my backlog I'm still not playing.

Things are going alright. It's a pretty even keel for the most part. Probably an uptick in my personal life and a downtick in my professional life, so staying relatively even, all things considered.

I am very much looking forward to spring break coming up, though. I could really use that.

Well, sorry to hear about the professional stumbles, but if I can be candid, I tend to weight personal life over otherwise, so I'm glad to hear that's going better for you. I know there have been some setbacks over the course of the most recent past, so I hope it all continues on the positive trajectory.

In my corner of things, most exciting report I have to make is I just got done watching Dune part 2. There were some marked changes, but over all I find myself agreeing with the majority of them. There's one bit that I felt weakened it, but it's understandable the decision made. That doesn't mean I have to like it.

Beyond all that, it's lately been on my mind the idea of parasocial relationships. It has... Unsettled me, in some regards as to how l value your friendship, but feel too vulnerable at the tenuous nature of our connection.

Yeah, I tend to agree. It's just been a particularly tumultuous time for me in general, so it's a bit hard to gauge where I stand with any one thing.

I was just talking to another friend of mine about that movie. He's extremely excited about it. I never watched the part one, so I'm not in any hurry to see it, although I'm sure I'll watch them both eventually. It's been a long time since I've read the book, so I might want to do that before watching this new interpretation.

Well, from my understanding, parasocial relationships are less about online friendships like we have, and more the feeling people have towards celebrities and Internet personalities that have no knowledge or interest in those who are their fans. I do get what you're saying, though. The loss of so many of our friends on this site has definitely affected me and I am very thankful for those of you who are still around.

I'm just not great at reaching out... :/

You and me both on the reaching out, Raven.

I haven't been at school in a decade and sometimes I think, it's hard not having that as a social focal point.

Hey, everyone, I'm sick!

Oh, wait, wrong smilie...

So anyway, it's been a rough couple of days. I'm really hoping this starts to clear up soon. Tests were negative for Influenza A and B, COVID, and RSV, so they put me on an antibiotic. The first one went down fine, but I vomited up the second one fairly quickly. I'm about to eat for the first time since that happened, so...wish me luck!

I hope the rest of you are staying happy and healthy!

Thanks. It's been a long few days. What's worse, I was supposed to have a visitor this week, which I was really looking forward to, and they had to cancel because of my health issues. It's been a real bummer.

Nearly 20 years onward and I'm still having nightmares about not finishing high school.
You ever think something might be wrong with our education system?
