So, we have mafia running, several D&D style games, a few magic games and some freeform RPG stuff. What else would people like to see for structured games around here? Do people want d20 Modern / Future games, other RPG systems getting run, other card games (like Yu-Gi-Oh! or CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD), board games being run, or anything else? I'm having a lot of fun with the Play by Post games I'm currently in, so I'd love to see some interest in other things crop up, especially if it'd bring in more players from different sections of the board.

I've never played D20 modern and really really want to.

I've also only played one game of Stars Wars RPG and it was my first time DMing anything ever, so I'd love to play in a proper game.

I've been considering starting a section of D&D Player vs Player but I want to wait until we have more activity to do so. Arena fight team battles.

In the non-TRPG category...um...what else is there. Hmmm Cards Against Humanity? :shifty:

So in addition to the 'what would people want to play' I figure I'd just stick this on the bottom here. Exactly how many PbP can we sustain at any one time? I have been tempted to start DM'ing *something* but after looking at the number of threads in the set-up zone that are just sort of sitting there I have to wonder if we aren't currently at maximum capacity.

Max capacity changes based on the numbers of people we have. rstnme and Dr_Demento both recently joined up and are looking for games, and each player can usually do three or four games at a time. I dunno, I just figure that the more interest there is, the more people we can hopefully drag in and grow the community.

Fair enough. Honestly I think running stuff like the 'Shotguns & Zombies' thing you posted is actually a pretty good idea. Run a few lighter games alongside the big serious D&D campaigns and what not.

Yeah I was going to post something along the lines of what Squinty said but go distracted reading another thread. I do that a lot.

Basically yeah, our max capacity flexes and grows as we gain/lose people. At first there was just the seven or so of us, which got the KotS game off the ground to give people a good example PbP D&D game and meanwhile it was all just forum posting games and such. Then a mafia game started and pulled more people down here, and a few wandered over from the 'mothership' and saw that the only D&D game was full, so AA started his own campaign and got it up and going while Squinty saw how things were run and decided to get a Pathfinder game going and pulled in some new blood...but then we sorta stalled for a bit again. The between the 5e game starting, the DoP games moving down here, a second mafia game recruiting, and finaly DS's game recruiting we expanded yet again and hit the point of separating the Forum games from the PbP. Afterwhich talking to Rstnme in the RPG boards led to him wandering down here and starting up a game.

We're near capacity given our current population, but if a few of the players so desired we could easily support another game or some caliber. Especially of the shorter and easier variety. And more importantly, short and easy games with low player counts that appeal to users from other parts of the boards will draw them down here and hopefully they'd see the D&D games and such and want to sign up for something or run their own game.

Another aspect, which is a little more far reaching...and something that I'm working on from a total community aspect, bringing more traffic to the site will obviously give us a bigger exposure and pool of users to find players in. So I've been trying to keep active discussions and informative threads in the RPG sections to help throw us up on the google searches when RPG players search for things. Its why I'm working on the Ranger handbook and why I try to fish up articles and such when I can.

Any WoT fans out there? I found this document which adapts the (defunct) WoT RPG into Pathfinder.

Now, I want to be clear. I'm a big fan of people experimenting with more styles of games. I'm an advocate for RPGs as a whole. I'm up for just about anything that gets more users onto NGA. But screw Robert Jordan.

(with that said, go for it, run the game! I'm just bitter about his books)

Any specific reason? I mean, they did seem to slip a bit, but BS picked it up very well (IMO) and, aside from the final ending of the final book, I was pretty pleased overall with the series...aside from the fact that I started reading it in high school, and finished earlier this year...

Mostly because he has so many main characters that you could spend 2 to 3 books not even hearing from some of them. He just spread it out too much.

LOL - that, I can understand. It could have been 10 more books long, and there would have been plenty of stuff for everyone to do...I'm going to read through the doc a few times, and then I'll open a setup thread for it.

Although, I'll also put it out there that, if someone like Garren wanted to run a game first, I'd be fine with that...you know, since I'm just getting back into RPG's and just starting PbP - might be better (for the site) to have the people with experience start things up first, before I stumble around and cause the Forsaken to be reborn...

Yeah, WoT is epic, but it's one of those series where I can't feel bad for quitting it on book nine because THAT WAS TEN YEARS AGO AND I TRIED, I TRIED SO HARD I READ NINE BOOKS. If you count rereads, that means, of my limited number of books I'll read in my life, Jordan took at least 50 from me.

I somewhat got lucky...I read the first group of books when they came out, and promptly forgot about the series for quite a while. Then, for some reason, I thought about it, when the 2nd from the last book came out, so, I did the full re-read, and, by the time I was done, it was not too long to wait for the final one...

So - unlike many things I do, I'm not going to half-ass this. So, it's going to be a while, I think. Going to come up with some maps, and some stories, and maybe some additions to the framework, and then start the signup...so, assuming I don't burn out with it...I would say at least a few weeks before I'm ready to open up...

Well I'm down to RP. Otherwise I'll get real jealous of my players and kill them all.
