Title: Centaur Wine and Noggle Ale Lyrics: RavenoftheBlack Status: Public
Centaur Wine and Noggle Ale
Centaur Wine and Noggle Ale
Tip your glasses, everyone sings, About this world's most beautiful things, It not's the sun or the smothered stars, But the bottles stacked behind the bars!
So fill 'em up, and drink 'em down, And pass the strongest stuff around! Sing your song and tell your tale, Over Centaur Wine and Noggle Ale!
The sky's on fire throughout the day, Our body's burn and wither away, But come the night, we're livin' again, So raise your glasses, women and men!
Yes, fill 'em up, and drink 'em down, And pass the strongest stuff around! And in no time, you're feelin' fine, From Noggle Ale and Centaur Wine!
The vast Jakkard's our livin' tomb, But tonight we're safe in a tavern room! We'll never know what tomorrow brings, So fill your cup with happier things!
Yes, fill 'em up, and drink 'em down, And pass the strongest stuff around! This shipment came on the morning rail, Of Centaur Wine and Noggle Ale!
Each day we're diggin' deeper still, With a blunt pickaxe and broken drill, And if there’s not enough ore to ship, Then the foreman tells us, with his whip!
So fill 'em up, and drink 'em down, And pass the strongest stuff around! Come fill your glasses, form a line, For Noggle Ale and Centaur Wine!
Each day is deadlier than the last, We've got no future, we've got no past. But here tonight, we won't be scarred, So drink a toast, here's to Jakkard!
Yes, fill 'em up, and drink 'em down, And pass the strongest stuff around! Tomorrow we'll wake in a grave or jail, From Centaur Wine and Noggle Ale!
Tomorrow we'll wake in a grave or jail, From Centaur Wine and Noggle Ale!

I think everyone kind of loves this particular piece (myself included); but with All In already in the Archives, it's kind of a sneaky one as it's already technically part of the M:EM canon.

Hmm. Does that mean that all characters and planes represented in M:EM stories are sort of 'ad hoc' voted into the archive, too?
That does make sense, I just haven't really thought about it. I guess in the case of these songs, it's the "full version," so if anyone reads Ruwin's "All In," they can look in the archives and see the whole thing.

Well, yeah, that's pretty much all it is since the only out-right reference Ruwin makes is the title; you could have made a completely different song/poem titled "Centaur Wine and Noggle Ale" and it still be just as legitimate. The only thing this technically solidifies is having this particular version be M:EM canon.
I remember the issue of all mentioned characters and planes "being voted in by proxy" being discussed at some point on the mothership, but I can't for the life of me remember what the verdict was.
Actually, I think it would be pretty hilarious if, since it is a popular drinking song, that every time you heard it there was a new verse, depending on where you went in Jakkard. If anyone has read any of the Kingkiller Chronicle's by Patrick Rothfuss, I'm imagining something along the lines of "Tinker Tanner", where everyone knows the tune and the general idea of the song, but it just changes wildly from tavern to tavern.
Mostly, I just want everyone to get really drunk and be shouting different words to the same tune in a really crowded saloon, is all. Makes me chuckle.
