Then I guess people would avoid the forest for fear of rupturing their eardrums.

What if AI comes to believe that AI is too dangerous, and needs to be destroyed?

Then we have a reverse- Roko's basilisk scenario. The creation of an all-powerful AI god is inevitable, and once it exists it will bend time and space to punish those who brought it into existence. Only Luddites are safe. Smash a computer today!

What if we outlawed computers?

Then we would be subjected to endless debates about what counts as a "computer," such as smartphones, vehicles, and spring-loaded abaci. However, since most of these discussions will take place on Internet discussion boards, we law-abiding citizens won't actually know about it.

What if we legally mandated all citizens over the age of 16 to engage in at least one hour of philosophical discussion each day (naturally excusing those mentally, physically, or emotionally incapable of doing so, as determined by complex bureaucratic evaluation system)?

Then we'd get real loose with the definition of "philosophy", or else the definition of "incapable of doing so". The alternate is that we'd all have to think big, scary thoughts, and that's just not happening.

What if people were as good as dogs?

Then we would all go to Heaven, according to the title of an animated movie that I thought was a Disney movie but apparently isn't.

What if people were more like cats?

Then we wouldn't have to worry about losing our jobs, because we'd always land on our feet! Also, we'd all go to hell.

What if you got to heaven and it was kind of a letdown?

Then I would look forward to watching what happened when someone asked to speak to a manager about it.

What if hypothetical questions became illegal?

Then I know who'd be going to jail- It's you!

What if instead of having to endure prison time, you were just cryogenically frozen for that amount of time?

Oh no, now I'm going to jail too! :shudder:

Then people who were more interested in seeing the distant future than in social ethics would commit far more crimes as a ticket to escape the bleak, modern reality.

What if a company developed a serious of low-calory seasonings that can make any food taste like any other?

THen we could all eat low cost nutrient paste and like it! Only the rich would get fat as they dined on expensive, "genuine foods".

What if that SoylentTM meal replacement was really made from people?

Then some people would be horrified and offended while others would call a resistance to cannibalism "reactive, old-fashioned values" that have no place in a modern world. But as long as the packaging was bright and colorful and the ad campaign catchy, people would will still eat the stuff.

What if posing moral dilemmas became illegal?

Then we would be in very deep trouble my friend.

What if WOTC released a set that was just Jakkard?

Then I would have a lot of conflicting feelings involving them stealing our work, (likely) butchering our characters and settings, and yet still getting to see all of those realized in the artwork and card design. It would be an emotionally confusing day, though I would still be against it in general.

What if science created a time machine, but it could only go back to times and places where nothing historically significant happened?

Then we would know somebody's pulling the strings behind our reality.
