See, "Wanted Dead or Alive" might be my least favorite Bon Jovi song, at least as far as the ones I know, which I'm sure is not a lot compared to their full discography. The quintessential Bon Jovie song for me personally is either the aforementioned "Bed of Roses," which was the first one I ever heard, or "You Give Love a Bad Name," which is just great. For most people, I assume it would be "Living on a Prayer."
...

These sir, are my thoughts on Bon Jovi perfectly encapsulated.

As for "Desperado," it's a very good song, and I really like a lot of the Eagles' stuff.

For my money, I actually really don't care for the Eagles. Partly was just a mild disinterest to start with, but my guitar teacher LOVED them, so guess what we got to hear constantly as we tried to learn to play stuff?
Yeah, not a fan, as a result.

Quote:
Possibly while high...

Solid reference. I also love the Smashing Pumpkins line in that episode.

Smashing Pumpkins is a band I actually don't associate with the 90's despite them being prevalently prominent during the 90's.
That may largely be because the album I most immediately associate with them was Ava Adore, which was a VERY different approach to their music for the most part, aside from "Perfect" which was a sequel to "1979"

Which... amusingly shook loose the music video to "Do the Evolution" by Pearl Jam in my head.

Also:
"I bought that pig at Pink Floyd's Yard Sale!"

Quote:
I never listened to the Spice Girls, but as you say, they were definitely a 90s phenomenon. Your mentioning it did remind me of "No Scrubs" by TLC, which I heard a lot, mostly because one of my friends used to blast that song all the time for no adequately explored reason.

TLC feels like a group that had a lot of solid hits and has unfairly faded into semi-obscurity and it feels like such a waste.

Also, every time they come up, there's a male group that pings on my radar and I cannot bloody remember their name or the song I'm thinking of.

Quote:
The last of the Disney movies that I watched was The Lion King. Technically, I went to Pocahontas in the theaters, although the less said about that, the better.

I think it's so funny that they thought Pocahontas was going to be such a phenomenon. And then Dreamworks came in and bloodied their noses instead.

Quote:
A 90s song that I've forgotten to mention so far, but that came on my music player while driving today, is "Insensitive" by Jann Arden. I love that frickin' song.

I can't say that I can place that song, but I'll give it a listen later to see if I'm just being absent minded.

Quote:
Another 90s song that we haven't mentioned is "Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something. While I wouldn't say I love the song by any means, I don't dislike it as much as some people I've heard talk about it.
That one is unquestionably 90's, yet my mind disassociates it because the movie is from the 60's and it gets all tangled up.

Quote:
Another one that straddles the 80s and 90s for me is "King of Wishful Thinking," which I would have guessed was 80s, but was, apparently, released in 1990.

On the other side of the spectrum is "Mambo No. 5" by Lou Bega, which came out right as the 90s were ending.

Another song that wouldn't go the hell away in 1999 was "Livin' la Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin. To be fair, I actually kind of like "Mambo No. 5," though.

Oh, and "Smooth" by Santana (featuring Rob Thomas). Again, frickin' everywhere.
Santana is timeless, though I had honestly thought Smooth came out a bit later than the 90's
Mambo no 5 was a pretty catchy song, though for reasons I cannot properly articulate, I group it with "Scatman" which... you know, great song there.
Ricky Martin is... harmless, I suppose. I will admit I find that one catchy at least, but around the time the Swing fad was dying out, we got a mild obsession with latin pop stars.

Quote:
And "All the Small Things" by Blink 182. Man, once this gets going it just opens the floodgates for my life at that time...

I can honestly say I'm not a Blink 182 fan.
But yeah, that feeling you're getting is pretty much the experience I've been living for the past year because I just can't with life these days.

Happy new year to all. Hopefully this one won't suck.

I've actually been in kind of a trash headspace lately. It's all dealing with the passage of time, but there's a specific issue that's causing dissonance.
The past 5 years haven't felt right, like everything is piled on top of itself. The way the past 5 years feels makes it feel like 10 years ago was 5 times as long, but weirdly 10 years still feels like 10 years.
The fallacy is causing a short circuit in my brain, on top of all the stuff that's just worn me down over the last 5 years still feeling so fresh.

From my social media sphere, that's not an uncommon occurrence.

Coming back in with another blast from the past
En Vogue - My Lovin'

Hilariously, it was a YouTube video taking about Stuff Crust Pizza that reminded me.

This is probably the nerdiest joke I've ever told:

What monsters from a Star Wars planet will make you feel better?

Endor isn't a planet. It is a moon.
I am greatly dissapointed.

Endor is a planet. It's a gas giant. The forest moon of Endor is well-known for its small and hostile bear people, but who's to say there aren't fiends in the gas giant's clouds?

I have this one comic that gets super dark.

it's told from the viewpoint of an ex storm trooper who describes the Ewoks that way veterans describe the Vietcong

I figured "the forest moon of Endor" was like "the island of Hawaii" and not "the moon that belongs to Endor, which itself is not a moon".
But Wookiepedia describes it as "A remote moon in the Endor system of the Outer Rim Territories, Endor was covered in dense woodlands" so I think the moon technically shares the planet's name
and I refuse to admit defeat.
Oh sweet Jesus. The moon Endor orbits the planet Endor which orbits, not one, but two stars named Endor. Yeah, I'm done. Just, why?

Well, the only sapient brings known to live in the system are not exactly known for their complex and nuanced use of language...

Dang, didn't make it in time.
Well, I'll suffice with what I said in direct messages.

I had a weird dream last night wherein I was hanging out with Luna, who I have never met in real life. But for some reason, it was at my parents' house in my old room there. I also, for some reason, thought in the dream that it would be a good idea for us to play a Madden game, which I haven't played in years, and which Luna has never given me any indication of being interested in one way or another.

Anyway, Luna, it was good to "see" you! I hope everything is going alright.

And the same goes for the rest of you, as well!

I have been sufficiently uninterested in the prospective offerings out of magic that I've been focusing my recent efforts in building 60 card decks out of the 40k commander decks they released.

I had really only planned to do 1 Astartes deck, but I found kind of differing strategies, so that became 2 decks... And then I thought "I like the Sororitas, but can I do anything with... Yeah, yeah, I think I can." So it became 3 decks.

And then there was the snaggle of the chaos deck being an absolute scatter of ideas and mechanics that only kind vaguely for together, but landing on having Magnus get a deck... Meant I could probably parse out Mortarian... And then... Point is, that's 3 chaos decks too.

The Necron deck, surprisingly, didn't want to be 60 card, it wanted to remain a Highlander deck.

Which is all a very very very long winded way of saying I've taken up painting 40k miniatures because my decks needed tokens. Crazy expensive tokens...

Also, I'm making up lore for the chapter/order of the Imperium decks.

I've never looked into or done anything with Warhammer 40k, although most of my D&D friends are into it.
