Hm...
I know the feelings about magic attempting the universe beyond stuff has been no small amount of contentious (I personally loathe the crap they plan for doctor who, as should anyone that actually liked it prior to moffat leaving) but the investors call did spoil that they plan to do a final fantasy crossover

And... I don't have it in me whatsoever to hate that. I just love final fantasy too much.

That might be why I like it so much :D

MtG x FF sounds... well, it has potential, methinks? Although any crossover always has a chance of falling flat.

There are some things that I think have no business associating with Magic. Fortnite, Walking Dead, Stranger Things, Doctor Who....
Yeah, none of those share any DNA with MTG.
Warhammer is.... Simultaneously a bad fit, but something that at least works by association.

Final Fantasy? That has a lot of similar DNA though, so I'm interested to see what the plan is. There's a good chance I hate it as a magic product, but love it from the other side.

Happy birthday, Barinellos!

I really didn't like the Universes Beyond products in the beginning, but then I realized I don't really care much about the canon story anymore. So from that perspective, the UB stuff really is no worse than any other Magic product.

Thanks all for the birthday wishes, sorry it took so long for me respond to that second wave of them.

So, today, I went out to go to work and huzzah! My car either start. Hopefully it's just an issue with the battery.

I just played a game of Oregon Trail as some of my various M:EM characters. Only Daneera and Urassaya made it to the end. And you know what that means...

HS Urassaya has a new crush...

:D

Did... Did Denner die of a snakebite?

Denner was, in fact, on the trip; he did, in fact, get a snakebite; and he did, in fact, die.

However, the snakebite did not lead directly to his death. He got the more generic "Denner got sick and died" message. He also broke his arm at one point, and then shortly afterward got lost. This probably goes without saying, but he did not have the best trip.

Back in the day it was hard to tell if a man died from a snakebite. Odds were, he had TB anyway.

Either that or some particularly nasty magical poison made from four obscure venoms of creatures from across the multiverse.

Naw, that can't be. Who would do a thing like that? :plot:

I now kind of want a Raiker Venn ballad of the tragedy of Oregon Trail.

How's everyone doing?

A game I play forced through an update that promptly broke part of itself.
But on the bright side, I'm going to a convention this weekend! And I'll be in costume (albeit not a terribly complicated one)

I've been better. It's been a busy few weeks, and things just keep cropping up, including a sudden $1100 expense I was not expecting that I just found out about yesterday. But I think things might start slowing down in a week or two. Hopefully.

Sorry to hear about the game. Hopefully it gets itself fixed up soon.

Enjoy the convention! What will you be dressed as, if you don't mind sharing? And if you do mind, feel free to make something else up entirely!

Apropos of nothing, I had a strange dream last night in which I somehow managed to get Skyrim working on an old Atari. All of the graphics downgraded to those gigantic Atari pixels and gameplay was highly questionable. But I got it to work, damnit!

Eh, struggling to get back to a decent work schedule now that I have some kind of tangible responsibility. On the other hand, some friends that live abroad returned for a long weekend so yay, friends!

A tragically emblematic representation of modern software.

Nice! Have a lot of fun!

That sucks, I hopes that goes better soon as well.

Idk why but my brain went "isn't that minecraft?" at that. I never played on an Atari :V

My week has been good. Did the big presentation of my research project on Thursday, and I feel like it went well (we don't get our grades for a few weeks, so there is still room for disappointment). Just came back from a children's Halloween party, which was fun but tiring. I had to figure out how to do zombie makeup on one of my daughters this morning, and it went decently well!
