If haunted creature would die, exile it instead and put a number of soul counters on Kaz'therath equal to that creature's mana value. Then, if there are soul counters on Kaz'therath equal to its mana value, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, choose another target creature and Kaz'therath haunts that creature. If you can't choose another creature this way, put Kaz'therath into your graveyard. (Remove counters when this moves from exile to the battlefield or a graveyard.)

Search your library for a card, shuffle, then put it on top of your library. If this spell is a copy, draw a card.
Conspire (As you cast this spell, you may tap two untapped creatures you control that share a color with it. When you do, copy it and you may choose a new target for the copy.)

This went through so many iterations, then I went simple.

How to Train Your Dragon

When How to Train Your Dragon enters the battlefield, create a 0/1 red Dragon creature token.
Whenever a non-Dragon creature enters the battlefield under your control, choose a kind of counter from among flying, first strike, deathtouch, hexproof, lifelink, menace, reach, trample, vigilance, and +1/+1. Put a counter of the chosen kind on a Dragon you control. You may only choose an ability counter if the creature that entered the battlefield has that ability.
