Temple - I'm not a fan of these in Constucted, but in Limited I can see the Scry 1 being very useful, and is solid for mana fixing.
OR
Hoplite - I can see him getting pretty big.
I've only ever played sealed so this is a new thing for me.

I think discussion of whether the new lands are good in constructed could be a good thread.

Hoplite seems like a good "build around me" card for limited but pushes you into two colors potentially (not super relevant in your first pick though).

I might pick Tormented Hero and try to be a B/x aggro deck which seems pretty strong in the format.

I would pick Hero from this pack. If we already had a few white and/or blue picks, I'd be fine with the Hoplite then, but not as P1P1.

Either Scholar or at least one other Black card from this pack would be expected to wheel.

That is a very bad pack. I think it's between hoplite or hero as well. As of now, I'm a little disappointed in black and I've been liking blue. Hoplite is also more powerful in the abstract, so I'd pick that over hero. Probably the wrong pick though, because you don't really want to be in two colors this early over such a weak card.

Hopefull Eidlon or Temple.

Temple because money. Lifelink is really good in draft, and bestow creatures can't be 2 for 1ed like a normal aura. Heroic isn't very good in draft as far as I have seen.

hoplite, i think. oddly skewed black presence in the pack. cure and the tormented hero are fine, as is the 3/3 for 2.

I think one of the issues I have (besides never drafting before) is I don't have a great grasp on the set (excluding the few cards I really want). It makes it hard to know what possible builds may be viable in Limited.

Heroic is so bad in limited it's almost irrelevant. Doesn't mean certain cards like phalanx leader aren't good, but those are pretty bomby anyway.

Hero is decent in the sense that a Savannah Lions that ETB's tapped is decent. If you get Heroic to trigger, that's simply extra. But in this case, it's also on theme with mono-Black life-stealing.

I mean, yes in real life I would pick the dual land. But I wouldn't in draft theory land.

Nothing in this pack is super "good," so no matter the pick, I wouldn't be disappointed if whatever was picked from this pack didn't actually make a deck later on (because we wound up in other colors). So, in that sense, I see Black as having the most support from this pack. If we pick a Black card here -- and out the next 7 picks, we're lucky enough to actually have a partially Black deck -- we're very likely to get at least one more Black card that might also make our deck from this pack when it wheels.

Actually I just noticed we have insatiable harpy. Yeah I'd snatch that right up.

Since my 1st pick was bow, temple then. At the very least, I have mana-fixing for U/G

I like hoplite, and I think the scry lands are actually awesome in limited, because even if you arent playing those colors, it might be worth running.

Based on this pack I would choose hero. A 2/1 for 1 is great, and his heroic is good even if you get to use it once or twice. There's also likely a decent choice of black in the pack coming back around, all creatures or removal, yet none of them are so standout that they're likely to get chosen for a few picks, at least. I think hero gives the most punch for the pick, and sets you up for more stuff later.

I think I determined that I would play out of color scry lands because they are that good. I just don't know if I'd first pick one in the dark.

That makes sense. Going with hero for me, then! Really though, I'd be happy with any of the other black cards in this pack, and I think at least one and maybe two would come back.

I would definitely play the scry lands, I just don't think they're first pickable unless you're prioritizing a constructed (well, standard) deck's mana base.

2/1s for 1 are amazing. On turn 1. They make terrible topdecks, which is why I like the hoplite, bc he turns combat tricks into counters and scry.

I completely disagree. Not all heroic are good, and hero's heroic is pretty bad (but you don't play him for heroic anyway), but there are so many solid enchantments and combat tricks that heroic can really turn the tables.

I wouldn't. Scry is so prevalent in Theros, and coming into play tapped ruins your tempo. I'd play them on colour, but certainly not by first picking it. This is a very weak pack, but I'd rather pick the Hoplite and start cutting blue.

Three solid black cards in the pack. Probably take the Tormented Hero, hope the harpy or cure tables.
