I met with the other manager this Friday past and I think it may have been an actual
interview.
Also it has been a while since I've felt open and loose enough to just talk about what's been going on, but I want to make some progress toward that. I've been watching a lot of anime (for me) in the last few months. I've watched Cromartie High School, Kill La Kill, Monster Musume, and I just finished watching Interviews with Monster Girls. I'll try to say just a few words for now on each, and maybe come back to them more later.
Cromartie HighA silly gag anime, spoofing the delinquent genre which I don't think really exists anymore? Barely animated, but on purpose, and uses it to make jokes all the time. Fun, but I wanted something
more afterwards.
Kill La KillWell, that was a **** show. Still not entirely sure what to think of it overall, but I had really high hopes and it was a massive letdown. Barely animated, and bless them they tried to make it work, but there was not enough there to help detract from that fact.
Monster Musume (No Iru Nichijou)I have watched this show and the OVA in both sub and dub and am checking out the manga because for some reason I spend more time on things I
don't actually like than the things I well and truly enjoy. It's a dumb harem show -- a genre I don't get on with at the best of times -- that tends to forget the characters' dimensions and biology. It's tough not to compare it to Interspecies Reviewers, and find it woefully lacking.
Interviews with Monster Girls {Demi-chan wa Kataritai}I expected another show horny for monster girls. What I got instead was a cutesy slice-of-life using monster girls as a narrative conceit to make those with disabilities, neurodivergence, special needs, and possibly PTSD visible and paint them as ordinary people, and I fell head over heels in love with it. I am definitely going to be actually buying the manga to get more of it because it was so good.
Now that I've reached the end of those, I decided to finally see Big O for the first time. 4 episodes in and it feels
so much like a Japanese-flavored Batman cartoon, and I can see why it had a following back in the day, but I'm also curious to see where it goes.
