So apparently there's now a Midsommar cult, which I guess it's the next best thing for humanity without Avacyn. Wonder if the pact with the geists still holds.

I love Innistrad. The art we've seen so far looks top notch to me.

Two things that i would really like to see:

- werewolves done justice. (Come on Wizards, some of my werewolves have been collecting dust for 11 years now...please make werewolves at least somewhat commander compatible. It doesn't have to be a tier 1 tribe, not at all in fact; a lower powered tribe is just fine. But right now it is basically RG overcosted-human-tribal)

- Ludevic done justice (the existing card felt like a massive kick in the nether regions; rarely have i been more disappointed in a character getting a card. The abilities were all wrong, the colors were wrong, the power and toughness were weird and (apart from tutoring Geralf) he really doesn't seem to be the partner kind of guy)

Just build a 60 card deck lol

I legitimately have no interest in what they're doing. Innistrad is played out.

The only problem with that is that my playgroup exclusively plays commander. (I also happen to prefer that format, but that's irrelevant) Ulrich was cool, but het was no werewolf commander. Here's hoping for one!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've never really seen Innistrad at it's darkest for two whole large sets. Only Dark Ascension did that. I'm also very interested in what the vampire wedding in Crimson Vow is all about. I suspect it will be Olivia who gets married, but i wonder who she'll marry. I would also like to know if Edgar is still alive or not.

I'm hyped for this set, loved werewolves, love innistrad so Midnight Hunt is basically what I want from Innistrad.




My guess is Olivia and Sorin, maybe as part of the deal for Sorin to get out of the rock.

Sounds like Crimson Vow will be about the union of two vampire houses. I'm assuming Markov and Voldaren, partly because those are the most notable two and the only ones that could offer up marriage partners anybody can list of the top of their heads. It would present a pretty radical shift in power. House Falkenrath, and House Ithinktherewasnaotherone would be permanently sidelined and a united vampire faction would be free to dominate Innistrad.
I suspect Sorin might tie the know with Olivia- offering her dominance over the plane in exchange for agreeing to regulate the rate of human consumption. Or maybe it's Edgar who takes the vow and they play up the Edgar/Sorin conflict for drama.


Sorin already got out of the rock in time for War of the Spark. I don't think how he got out was ever described. It's possible he cut a deal with Olivia beforehand, but I suspect WOTC just kind of decided the "stuck in a rock" angle wasn't worth pursuing.

There's a lot less to go on with Midnight Hunt. Werewolves will play a role and apparently nights are getting longer and cults are catching on? Hard to say how significant any of that will be. They might push most of the story off to the second set and let Midnight Hunt serve as a welcome back to Innistrad.

The four great families on Innistrad are:

- Markov
- Voldaren
- Falkenrath
- Stromkirk

Only one progenitor was killed, Falkenrath. The others (Edgar, Olivia and Runo) were still alive during the events of Eldrich Moon.

Incidentally, I do hope we get a Runo card this time. We have Anje (the de-facto Falkenrath leader, so far as one can speak of leadership among the feral Falkenrath vampires) Edgar and Olivia already. I would expect Runo to be Grixis colored, as he worships a sea god/monster, but as Innistrad vampires are R/B he would probably be in Rakdos-colors.

As long as we're on the subject of characters from Innistrad who haven't gotten a card yet: a Rem Carolus card would be awesome as well!

It would be nice to have an Edgar card that had nothing to do with commander though.

Given how vampires are a common deck maybe they'll make an exception for Runo, like they semi-did for that mist vampire from SOI.

I'd like to bring this artwork to everyone's attention, because 1.) it's mind-blowingly gorgeous, and 2.) if you look closely, you can see a stylised 'M' and 'V' on the envelope (which I assume to be a wedding invitation). So because of this, the art of Sorin and Olivia on the packs and boxes and all the reasons people have stated above, I'd say the smart money is definitely on those two getting married.

Some have argued the art on the collector booster box looks more like Edgar than Sorin.

There also seems to be some "shooting stars" in a bunch of the art work in the sky.



Him being black with a red/blue hybrid mana ability could also work as you could still play him in draft/limited/ect with the other vampires.

True, I'd kinda forgotten about that one. I agree that looks more like Edgar.

Speaking of Edgar, I think I've checked the stories about three times to see how "dead" he actually was in Shadows over Innistrad since the set came out, but I could never remember whether we actually saw his dead body or not. That's why I had to check so often, and I still can't remember. Which is odd because I normally have a pretty good memory for details that interest me. But I've always hoped he might still be alive and only have faked his death to lay low for a while, so I'd be happy to see him return. I'm willing to bet it was Edgar who got Sorin out of that wall in the first place.

I agree that I'd like to see a new card for Edgar that actually feels like the character (and works outside of Commander). Just make him a mono-black Vampire Lord and call it a day.

IIRC it was left up in the air if was alive by just saying (somewhere) his body wasn't found at Markov Manor.

As far as i can remeber he is indeed only m.i.a.
I can't imagine them killing him off offscreen. That would seem terribly wasteful for such an important character.

Edgar is kind of a weird character, originally meant to be the big bad of Innistrad but never got to play that role for the two times we've been there.

I hope they keep him even if it makes little sense for Innistrad vampires. Could be a remnant of the original ritual involving angel blood.

He really is a very mysterious 'big bad' kind of character. He could be used as a foil for Sorin, but we know so little of him (is he really evil, or just misguided? It seems that, at least for some time in the past, he had good intentions). As for his colors, Mardu seems fine. The black because he is a vampire, the red to represent the feral nature of the vampires on Innistrad and the white for the nobel streak that Edgar (once) had.

I really hope they use these sets to flesh out both vampire and werewolf societies. There is so much potential there. Innistrad is a really deep and lore-rich world and i love it. Sets really DON'T always have to be about cataclysmic events.

So we have now mono- warlocks and circus performers.

the Day/Night mechanic looks like a nice update on the werewolf mechanic, and I like the flavor behind Disturb (the art on Hook-Haunt Drifter is great and looking at it again, I'm getting some subtle Emrakul influence vibes with the moon in the background, the lights, and the tentacle-like hooks)
