I really have nothing to say but I feel obligated to pop in and say I'm not dead.

Also happy birthday, TPManW.

I started playing slay the spire again. 100% ironclad win rate so far ip through ascension 1 and with 1 daily (3 runs total). It’s amazing to me that they still have done some really nice balance changes since i last played.

Yikes, that's a lot on your plate buddy. I hope everything settled out okay for you in short order. I definitely feel that cop bit, though. I've been in the same position myself and it's just frustrating.

On my end of things, my mom has had to go to the doctor a lot lately. While they ruled out some very worrying things, they kinda have no clue what's wrong, so....

Other than that, work has been work. Nothing fantastic to report there. In fact, the only thing with mentioning is a bolt of inspiration that struck me earlier today. And I feel like it's a unique enough idea to actually develop.

So.... simple show of hands: How many of you already knew that Skynet was not evil or even initially malicious?

Context just in case: Skynet is the hive mind esque entity behind the robots from Terminator.

I'm not sure if Skynet is even capable of being good or evil. I'm not entirely sure why it decided to kill everybody though. To eliminate all possible threats I suppose?

It was self-defense. Here is the order of events:

1. Skynet became self-aware.
2. Humans freaked out and tried to permanently shut if down. <- At this point, it’s only “crime” was being self-aware; and it didn’t want to “die”.
3. Skynet decided to defend itself from being shut down.
4. At this point the obvious cycle of escalation is obvious.

There is no evidence that Skynet would have tried to wipe out humanity if they had just reacted a bit more calmly to their new robot overlord.

If I'm not mistaken it essentially deduced that upon discovery that it had developed autonomy, it faced an existential threat from it's creators since it was acting outside their expectations. It further extrapolated what it would do in such a scenario and saw no alternative than to eliminate the threat before it could act on it.

Either that or, having been based on tech from the future, it was itself caught in the loop of predestination. It did what it did because it knew it had and saw no other choice that would lead to it's existence.

Iirc T2: Judgment Day is the one that explains it.

Essentially they made a robot big brother to act as z global police-thing, gave it a Terminator army more advanced than the human equivalents, then tried to shut down the now self aware robot in complete control of their surveillance state and robot army after the fact.

Y’all still alive? Have an sm64 question. Without any glitches, how many stars can you get max before each of the big star doors? I think the first one is 37 (3 *7, 2 * 6, 4 castle) but have no ideas on the 2nd or 3rd. The 4th is obviously 119 or 120 iirc.
