I know, I know. For many it’s not cool but despite playing with a variety of decks and having fun for sheer consistency and increasingly having to play better I cannot overlook my mono red. Although it’s still not packed with what would be a pro tour standard deck with the current build with singletons for most of the iconic cards like Hazoret, Phoenix and new addition chainwhirler it is always fun to play. Despite the mirror against chainwhirler I still think Firebrand is often the star of the deck. He can be a bit like perilous myr back in the Magic Duels days before he got the ban hammer.

Any other fans out there! And I do so wish Barney was able to play Arena and show us how rdw should really be played!!!!

I think red is top of the list for several of us here. Giocher, Barney, Cucho and I were always brewing new red decks back in Duels.

The math comes from figuring out when your opponent might kill you. How many turns and how much life you can allow to be subtracted before you can get to 20 damage to the face and how much burn you have to spend on his creatures. I feel trolled now

There are mono red piles that are actually hard to pilot and have decision trees, you can lose the game on T2-T3 coz you sequence things wrong... The fact that the game tends to be shorter puts a lot of pressure on every decision, thinking that aggro is easier to pilot is just a huge misconception, sure sometimes decks play themselves... but is a lot easier to beat those players.

I’m only buying it because champion of the parish isn’t a goblin.

Aggro is still typically easier to pilot than midrange/combo/control, though, and even at its hardest monored is not likely to be more difficult than other decks.

See https://strategy.channelfireball.com/al ... t-to-play/ which I found to be an excellent article (PVDDR is one of the best Magic authors in my opinion) from the time when I still played Magic. There's an article too ranking the Modern decks from easiest to most difficult, and there's an actual burn deck in Modern.

That's the misconception right there...

What is the play here?

You decide whether to play a mountain then cast up to 4 mana worth of stuff.

I can’t read the cards on a phone; but I’m assuming they can only cast 1 or 2 cards, each of which should have an optimal use. Since they only have 2 creatures on board, this seems like a relatively straightforward turn tbh.

Granted I’m assuming basic reading comprehension and problem solving skills are assumed for all involved.

One of the greatest magic players ever. We aren't going to argue with you, pvddr goes over the choices available in the video that's linked, so you dont have to assume either
