Welcome to The Simpsons "Couch Gag" Mafia.
This will be a relatively simple game for 8 players with a closed setup and more-or-less standard mafia rules (as defined by me). Those rules, which you should read in full, are outlined in the spoiler block below. The game is flavoured after the comical non-canonical "Couch Gag" sequences featured at the beginning of every episode of The Simpsons, with the Town playing the role of traditional Couch Gags, and the Mafia playing the role of Couch Gags featuring Guest Animators (however, the game is not breakable by flavour, so don't expect this to be universally true). The game has few power roles, and all role information is revealed upon death.
The Rules
Any rule not found within these rules is not a rule.
Be respectful of the game Mod and your fellow players. Mafia can get heated at times; try to remember it is a game, and the point of the game is to have fun. If I feel you have violated the spirit of this rule, you will be removed without warning.
Do not discuss the game with anyone except via Mod-provided methods (ie. the Game Thread, Discords, etcetera).
Do not post in the Game Thread during the Night or after your death.
Day phases will last for approximately 96 hours, rounded up to the nearest hour. Night phases will last for approximately 24 hours. Deadlines are hard set and nothing is accepted past them.
If you anticipate being absent for more than 48 hours, please give notice. Failure to do so may result in you being replaced.
During the Day, Lynches will be decided by a majority vote. Barring that, the player with the most votes at the deadline will be Lynched. If there is a tie for the most votes, the Day will end without a Lynch.
The preferred correct format is "Vote: Playername", however any clear intent to vote a player regardless of the format will be accepted. Unvoting is not required to move your vote. If I do not see your vote, it may not be counted. The best way to ensure I see your vote is by making it both bold and in colour, or not putting it in line with any other text, though this is by no means a requirement. If I suspect you are attempting to hide your votes in invisible text or spoiler blocks, or if I suspect you are deliberately abusing the liberal vote formatting to deceive your fellow players as to your voting intent, you will be warned. Failure to heed such a warning will cost you your voting privileges for the remainder of the game.
Any role that circumvents these rules takes precedence over them.
Do not discuss the balance of the game while it is in session. Save discussions of game balance for after.
You are encouraged to ask me any and all questions should anything in the Rules or your Role be unclear to you.
All win conditions are as follows: Town Aligned players must Lynch or Kill all Mafia Aligned players and have at least 1 Town Aligned player still be alive to win. Mafia Aligned players must achieve parity (equal number) between their living members the remaining living Town Aligned players to win, either by Lynching or Killing them until such parity is achieved.
Note: being dead does not mean you have lost, as this is a team-based game and you do not need to be alive to win (though at least one member of your team must be).
The game will commence once everyone has confirmed receipt of their roles, which are, at the time of writing, yet to be sent. Stay tuned. all of which have now been sent, so you should have them in your inboxes. You can confirm in the Game Thread or by replying to your Role PM.
