I’m actually not worried about being forced to break it.
But I’d like to wait a bit longer before making any promises because I’m afraid I might accidentally break one as the game goes on.

My role isn’t a formal one, so I actually have less information than any of you so if yall could put on the table anything you know about the mechanics that would be cool.

Each game is a new life.

Yes and no. Open promises aren't tied to any role in the game. They exist as an added layer to the basic game dynamic. The information knowable on them is stated in the OP combined with clarifications I give in thread. The consequences of breaking open promises are known to nobody. Role specific promises are enumerated in each players role PM and are not subject to Open Promises policies, meaning breaking those won't incur the open policy consequences but have consequences of their own that may or may not be spelled out in the role PMs as well.

You may promise anything you want, whether you have control of it or not. If you don't, however, you also won't have control over if you break that promise or not and will still be subject to consequences accordingly.

Promises do not have to be between parties. Rag's initial promises are an example of a single party promise. They are made to nobody in particular, but carry the same weight as a multiple party promise.

Does anyone want to break a minor open promise just so we find out the penalty? Presumably not, but it would be fun to see.

2: Each night I can make a pinkie promise with another player to protect them. If they would be killed before the following night I can either uphold my vow or break it and lett them die.
3: Aside from what is implied by my ability, I possess no concrete information about other player's roles or alignments.
4: I am town aligned.

I wouldn't mind doing this as long as the player was selected either pseudo-randomly or by vote. The town potentially gains information from it and if its done properly it should have a reasonable chance of hitting mafia instead of town (although if it did the consequences might not be apparent, depending on what they are)

I made a promise with KoD. And proposed one to Skystone and CL (who both rejected me).
I do think it's risky (as the mod keeps confirming) but this is a game called pinky promise... so that's what I'm here for.

We've all got to have absolute faith. This is why our promises are important.

I’ll start abbreviating Pinkie Promise as pp or peepee because it’s **** hilarious and you can’t ducking stop me!!

I’m a fake player at the moment, so I’m not aligned to anyone, not even myself. As consequence I can’t win or lose atm.

I’m not sure what I have to do to obtain an alignment (probably some specific kind of peepee), I can force some peepee to be unbreakable which is pretty strong (in regards of something forcefully breaking them, not if one of the parties decides to backstab), and since my situation is a bit bizarre I‘m assuming I can actually do some interesting stuff like breaking my peepee at will without being punished afaik (there might be non-explicit punishments so I don’t really wanna take risks, although I wouldn’t ever break a peepee willingly anyway).

I’m honestly a bit lost on what to do since I don’t want to play against an eventual wincon, but I plan on trying to solve and make the game entertaining while I’m here. uwu
I think I’d be more interested to side with a 3p atm, since their wincon sounds easier to achieve and would prolly synergize well with my ability, but honestly it’s a bit too early since I’m not sure on what to expect.
