Of note, Silverquill Command seems to have a new wording change. "Mana value" instead of what I assume is converted mana cost.

That scroll thing on Lorehold command looks a fair bit like a machine gun. I wonder if it cycles through the scroll firing off each line of script.

Fourth mode on the Boros one is kind of weird, especially because it lets you cast it as a 5 mana Inspiration.

Converted mana cost was kind of a nonsense word, but I don't think mana value is much better.

Yeah, WOTC's pretty hit or miss on the terminology they introduce.
"Add mana" was pretty awkward.
"Mill" has been MTG slang for a long time, but doesn't make sense in a vacuum.
"Creating" tokens was long overdue.
"Exile" and "the battlefield" were great choices.

it saves on text if nothing else

I'm not sure there's a good way to word it.

The draw two before the discard is technically the blue execution but it feels like the only blue part and it's just a bend on something red can do. "Target player discards two cards, then draws a card for each card they discarded this way." The token making is technically blue but it's far more red and frankly I think Blue only even ever got Treasures because Pirates.

I think you could technically make the argument that while a mono-R version could exist, it would be a sorcery. Meaning that the most blue part of the card is the type line, and that's not great either.

I'm generally not a fan of charms and commands from a design perspective since they're usually just random on-color effects stapled together and, yeah, that's exactly what these are. I'll still play them because the versatility is nice, but as designs they're a mess.

A full size art was going around and indeed it seems the lines of script are whats being fired.

Uh, have they said if they are going to keep mana cost for the 3-4 cards every 10 years that check it or change that too?

Why would they change the term mana cost?

I am kinda disappointed we're doing different factions or sub-schools within the school based on color groups, and that the separation is into dual-color, rather than mono color (as I was really hoping for a spell-focused set that was focused on mono-color themes). I was kinda hoping for factions/departments within the school to be based more on card types rather than colors, such as a 'department of rituals' for sorcery spells, a 'department of summoning' for creature spells, a 'department of battlemagic' for instants, and 'department of enchantments' for enchantments, and a 'department of artifice' for artifacts.

Still, what we have gotten seems interesting enough, and hopefully they'll do good stuff with it.

I wholeheartedly agree.
More than that though, I wish it was separate schools instead of separate sub-schools or whatever they seem to be. How is rival schools not cooler? Is there a really good reason for all these factions to be tied together?

If the scroll gun isn't a card in this set, I'm quitting Magic
