I'm certain JD isn't the killer. He'd know I'm naive, and we already had Amber as the other one to be Sane. There's no way he makes the mistake of claiming a flipped result despite leaving me alive to maybe reinvestigate my first target.

Goose, on the other hand, investigated three different people and displayed alternating results. Contrast that with JD reinvestigating.

JD is certainly more genuine.

Tevish makes a compelling enough argument on why another night won't actually help enough. I also agree known sane KoD isn't left alive in any situation.

Vote: Mongoose

That's a lynch! Which means the end of the day, as well as the end of the game! I will bring you the thrilling conclusion once I'm back at a computer in a few hours.

What a scene! Hercule Poirot, the famous Belgian detective, also known as Mongoose, is pointing a gun at Sherlock Holmes!
“You might as well surrender, KingofDominaria” he says in his trademark Belgian accent, “you fell right into my trap.”

Right then, another voice rings out from the shadows:
“Just one more thing.” Columbo’s (or should I say Tevish Szat’s) voice momentarily distracts Mongoose, and KingofDominaria lurches for the gun. Soon all three of them are in the scuffle, until suddenly a shot rings out!

Then, silence. After a few moments, KingofDominaria drops the gun on the floor next to Mongoose’s lifeless body and shares a look of relief with Tevish Szat. They both walk over to the window to catch their breath and process what just happened.

That’s when another shot is heard. As Tevish collapses next to him, KoD turns around and sees Jessica Fletcher, aka JayDreven, holding the gun in a gloved hand. Before KoD has a chance to react, JD calls out loudly over their shoulder:
“Archie, hurry up and get the police back here, and then come and help me! He’s gone completely mad!” Then, with a wicked grin and a much lower voice, “You really made this too easy, all of you. Pointing fingers at each other, leaving prints all over this gun. And no matter what you say, you can be sure that they will rather listen to little old me. Oh, this is going to be fun!”

The Killer is triumphant! The Detectives have lost the game!

I had my suspicions that it might be the one being quiet, but Mongoose did look worse. Well played.

I got super lucky because I **** up my last day investigation. Not because I didn't account for KoD contesting me on the flip, but because I missed Zingers KoD investigation day 2 when I was looking over things for my planned skewing of the views. If this game didn't have a random to lean on I'd have been boned.

My kill strategy was simply remove the sane and insane. Flipping KoD immediately gave me sane Amber, Goose's day 2 revealed him to be the random, and then I took a 50/50 at Zinger (because I'd been working to be able to frame either KoD or Tevish so far in the game).

I don't know how I feel about the balance of this killer role in a 5 player game. Specifically I mean I leaned a lot on the random cop this game so I feel like that roles inclusion biased the game in my favor more so than my own role did. I'd like to see this role set player out again with just the five.

Yeah, it's hard to evaluate it with only one data point, but overall I felt it was decently balanced. Hitting both of the useful cops early meant that the game would always come down to a fairly blind vote. The gambit with claiming the flip result worked out a lot better for you than I would have expected when you did it.

There were a lot of things that just happened to line up in scum's favor here, which could not be expected. Hitting Naive cop with the N0 flip while random got a scum result and no one investigated actual scum gave a vary useful cover for the first two days (even being soft cleared by both Zinger and Tevish at different parts of analysis). Then also hitting Insane cop with the 50/50 shot completely leveled the playing field. Then it was also lucky that both KoD and Mongoose got overly confident with their reads. So, I'm not expecting another game with the same (or the 5 player version) to look anything like this one. I'm just happy that I, however randomly it happened, managed to prove that scum wins are possible in dethy.

Besides all of that, I was just happy to do this. I might have had a bit too much fun with the flavor text at times (there was really no reason for me to research Nero Wolfe as much as I did for this), but sometimes it's the little things in life that makes it all worth it.
