The other Holidays are pissed off. Every year, JayDreven runs his annual Christmas Dethy, and we see nary a Hanukkah Dethy to be found. Wherefore be the Kwanzaa Dethy? Chinese New Year Dethy? Los Posadas Dethy! Not even a good ol' Winter Solstice Dethy for the Pagans? C'MON JD!

So all the other winter holidays have teamed up to lynch JD. But who is JD? Nobody knows! Some say he's just a bunch of random numbers jumbled together in the form of a person. Others say he is a Chocobo. One thing is certain, he is real and he is a threat to all the other holidays that want to be celebrated instead of Christmas.

But Jolly Ol' Saint JD isn't going to go down without a fight. No sirree. He has Christmas themed tricks up his sleeve, and if you're not careful, he's going to get you with his Christmas Cheer (or his Die Hard explosions, one of those two). The other holidays will have to band together it they are to find and defeat him.

This is a Dethy variant for 6 players.

5 of you will play as the various other Holidays that have been snubbed by JD. Each one is a Cop with a different (and unknown to them) Sanity. Each Night you can investigate a player and get one of the two following responses: A) JD's Christmas Dethy, or B) Not JD's Christmas Dethy. The Sanities are:

Sane: True results
Insane: False results
Naive: Always "Not JD" results
Paranoid: Always "JD" results
Random: Always random results

The 6th player will play as JD's Christmas Dethy, and he or she will have a variety of abilities at his or her disposal, all of which will be designed to infuriate and confound the rest of you into maybe lynching the wrong Holiday.

It is now DAY 1. Nobody has died.

Day 1 will last until Thursday, December 24th, at 12:01 PM Eastern time. The deadline is HARD and nothing will be accepted past it.

You may begin discussions and playing the game.

At the end of the Day, whoever has the most votes will be Lynched unless nobody has the most votes.

EDIT: Oh, and y'all may end the Day early if there is a unanimous consensus to do so.

Is it always optimal to bring forward your investigation results in every single instance of this game?

I was hit with an ability last Night. Without going into details (which I don't think I can do), I believe it is detrimental to me at this time to reveal my results.

But if everyone wants me to, I will reveal them anyway.

As a general rule, it is best to share results. Because this is an open setup where everyone has equal power roles, information should always benefit town more than scum. There might be some extreme fringe cases where that is not true, but dethy is mostly a logic puzzles game where we need info to solve it.

Sharing results is the basis of Dethy. The more results we have, the more able we are to determine everyone's sanity and therefore where Scum is.

I also have a proposition: We should claim our holidays IN CHAIN. That is, I'll go first, and call on someone else to follow, who will then call on the next player to reveal their identity. Christmas Dethy will have to lie, and if we're lucky might get caught in it.

So, I'll start: I'm Hanukkah. JD, I call on you to be next and tell us what you've got.

Why name claim? It never mattered in past games like this, so what if JD's Christmas Dethy can go after someone specific based on the name?

I don't see a reason not to name claim. On the other hand, it is not unlikely that scum has a provided fake claim, so the exercise may be pointless anyway.

So far, by my count, Tevish and Aarrgh have expressed interest in seeing my results despite the potential drawback revealing it may bring. That's not enough for me to reveal.

Oh, and nobody asked, but I don't care to hide it. I'm "Ōmisoka", specifically Japanese new years eve, which, I'm told, is a bigger deal in Japan than new years eve is anywhere else.

So seems like we already have it at 50/50 KoD or monster. Monster seems super sus, as the only result hold out and breaking the claim chain. KoD slightly sus for being overtly weary of a basic name claim.

@monster, none of us see your veiled vague threat of "something uncool" maybe probably kinda happening to you as a deterrent to you revealing your info. We just don't see the need to repeat what others have said. So without specific information about said detriment to change minds, you can take it as absolutely everybody wants your info.
