Actually, the reason for the face melting wasn't that the contents of the ark were too horrible to behold, it was that the contents were so pure that it melted away the impurities in whoever looked at it. We are all carrying darkness and impurities within us, so assuming that your personal darkness is too much for anyone else to handle is actually I weird kind of twisted pride. Why do you assume that you are special enough that no one else can help carry your burden?

That said, depending on what particular flavor your darkness is, opening up and sharing might have to be done carefully and only with people you really trust. It is far too easy for some people to take these things out of their context. I still really believe that we need to share our struggles, just make sure not to do it in a way that can be used against you.

I know, I just felt that needed to be said. Heck, it might have been that I needed to hear it, myself.

People, who are worried about Luna, are trying to give the local Eevee advice and emotional support. That is the general intent of the current conversation at the moment. So although I fully understand the inclination and thought process behind it, the Batarang may be missing the side of the barn with some of the semanticism. No offense meant and no hard feelings felt ofc.

On a slightly lighter note: due to the recently discussed difficulty of finding a consistent DnD game, I've decided to join a pay to play campaign. I'm doing my free trial session on Wednesday, and then hopefully will be playing regularly with these people if we turn out to be a good fit.

And of course, being me, the first thing I did was start working on my character's backstory, and am now a thousand words into a short story, which is the most function writing I've done in a long time. It's of course not Magic, but I'll probably still share it here once it's done.

I want to be a DM at dome point, but I don’t think I’ll ever be a player. I can’t imagine a DM putting up with me, and as a player I would probably gravitate towards games w SAN.

I'd really like to get into DMing. I've only been a player before, and unfortunately I haven't been playing of late.

Unless you're being humorously defeatist, you can try with someone who puts up with you as a person and has shown little fear in metaphorically bopping your nose with the rolled newspaper when necessary. I currently play with someone that the whole group sometimes just look at dead in the eye and say "dude, no." He just laughs or jokingly complains and we carry on. (Edit: I may be able to give more specific advice, if you wish, if you describe your specific problem)

I'd like to get some GMing experience, but you won't get me to run a game of D&D. I'm currently waiting for the Root kickstarter to arrive to hopefully dip my toes into the water, or for my homebrew game to have a working prototype.

SAN is that stat that is supposed to get as close to zero as possible without actually reaching it.

The NYT Bestseller List really needs to start going by number of orders sold instead of number of books sold. The list is useless when one group can intentionally buy a book’s way onto the list via bulk order.

In RPGs or IRL?

It's an easy way to brainwash the masses with a veneer of legitimacy. Even most people that read tend to just gravitate towards whatever they think they need to read to stay current.

This is probably going to be TMI, but I learned this week that I've probably been masturbating wrong all my life. Actually, I learned that I know a lot less about sex than I had assumed I had, growing up on the internet. I've since decided that I'm going to need to give myself the sex ed I never got, because I'm apparently lacking a lot.

I did not know that it could be done in a right or wrong way. That probably isn't a great sign o my sex ed either. I occasionally run across references to things that supposedly came up in a sex ed setting and go, "Wait, what now?"
