Also this is part of a cycle, the golem references the rogue mechanic, while the vial is clerics and the amulet is wizards

Why would you just put a blurb from a D&D Core Book as flavor text

Maybe they're planning on reprinting him in the upcoming forgotten realms set

It seems to be a theme for the "Expedition" cycle of common party members.

So do you think the dnd set was inspired by this or the other way around? Because I guarantee you someone at hasbro saw the ideas in one of them and told them to use them in the other.

It's kind of funny that the flavor seems to be "This is the one cleric in the party that will provide healing for everyone" but mechanically he can't do any healing unless another cleric helps him out. The flavor text probably should have been something about being an apprentice and learning on the job.

I like the idea that these are all trainees, and the flavor text is a mentor describing their role in the party. It would've been cool if the cards leaned into that flavor more. As is, it feels like they just slapped party flavor onto cards that encourage a more classic linear tribal strategy, creating a weird disconnect.

But what were we talking about? Relic Axe? Yeah, this seems fine I guess in a limited deck with enough warriors.
