I don't know if I'll get to write up a proper sheet in the immediate future so I'll post a text one for now of all the choices

Forest Gnome, Rogue 1
Chaotic Neutral, he follows his own priorities in life and acts somewhat erratically
STR: 10, he's not too used to applying brute force
DEX: 18+1, from his career as an assassin
CON: 16, only because I don't want to die, I've got no excuse
INT: 13+4, his psionic nature gives him an uncanny insight
WIS: 10, his broken memory seeps common sense and opens the door for manipulative magic
CHA: 14, he's got an odd charm to him
Skills: Perception, Investigation, Stealth, Sleight of Hand, Insight (Ex), Intimidation (Ex); he has the typical tools of the trade, and is eerily effective at pushing people's buttons
Other proficiencies: Thieves' Tools, Poisoner's Kit, Common, Gnomish, Elvish; I imagine Elvish as some "high-society" language that is useful for an assassin to blend in, and Forest Gnomes and Elves have always had some affinity for each other in my mind
Personality Trait 1: I've an uncanny knack for being cheerful, even when it's inappropriate.
Personality Trait 2: Stay tuned.
Ideal: People can always change; don't let the past tie you down.
Bond: The church helped me at the height of my stupor, and I feel indebted to them.
Flaw: The severity of situations often escape me.
Equipment: a), a), and c) from the rogue options, plus assorted things I spend my gold on
Free cantrip: Booming Blade

The PHB has a note about customizing backgrounds and I tend to exploit that to the fullest to do whatever I feel makes most sense, so I took Investigation and Stealth as skills, Poisoner's Kit and a language (Elvish) as other proficiencies, I took the Criminal's starting equipment and swapped the Crowbar with a a couple Vials, and I took the Urchin's feature of quickly navigating through urban environments.
I think those are all the choices.

all that's really missing is a name, the zodiac, and a backstory... But there's no rush, since we have not even started yet

Figure I should link both Siobhan NiKienan and her companion "Haggard" (note: some statistical info not representative due to unique companion rules) here, though I'm going to need to convert their sheets into easy-to-digest info for a post. which should be in easy-to-digest form below.

Siobhan NiKienan, Human Keeper

"Haggard," Keeper's Companion

I went and wrote 4 pages of backstory for Siobhan. I'm going to need to condense it, not least of which because I decided to write it achronologically.

I've also decided to make a small change to the character: I'm going to drop the "Bhan" part of her name. I decided the name based on real Irish names, and the "Bhan" part is a nickname that means "fair-haired," but that's kind of confusing to English speakers (since it comes after the last name), and it also sounds a little oddly repetitive since that's also a "bhan" in "Siobhan."

As I wrote the backstory, I realized that I kinda wanted to make her out somewhere between Genkai (from Yu Yu Hakusho) and Ginko from (Mushi-shi). Also worth noting is that, in typical kami/yokai fashion, the way "Haggard's" spirit rules work is that his form and power is derived both from the state of the elements he oversaw (in this case, the village and fields), and his emotional state; basically, the act of destroying his ward cut off his metaphysical link to the world, but his anger over it transformed him into a vengeful spirit that would have haunted that place for years.

Answerer, Warforged Monk

Pfft. I just finally read out your backstory, Tevish.

"I've got your answer. You're not gonna like it, though..."

Brilliant.

(I think I've done the final needed edit to this post, but I think there's a few empty fields on my character sheet.)

I see where all the confusion in the play thread is coming from. The sign up thread did mention that the PC's were hired for a job in Sabali, but the mention is buried amongst the text and there's not a lot of info to go off of.

-One more thing of note, for the story you each were on a small coastal town known as "Saballi" where you are meeting up with a contact who is going to give you a special job, why you are doing said job is up to you... just expect to do more once it's finished.

*"To YMTC it up" means to design cards that have value mostly from a design perspective. i.e. you would put them in a case under glass in your living room and visitors could remark upon the wonderful design principles, with nobody ever worring if the cards are annoying/pointless/confusing in actual play

I'm sorry to say I completely forgot about this over the last... however many weeks it's been. My personal schedule pretty much only allows me for exactly 1 thing to do with my evenings after work, so I haven't even been lurking for the longest time. Then there's just... the entire world right now (minus New Zealand), that's left me so emotionally drained that I haven't wanted to do, well, most things.

Because of that, I just don't think I have the time/energy combination to play, and I'm going to formally pull out so that you all can continue without waiting for me.
