It would be a complete overthrow of today's musical nobility. If The King never died then the crown never passed on legitimately. All the charts would have to be redrawn. Michael Jackson would only be a duke of pop. Queen would be Baroness. We'd only have the Princes of Leon. THe changeup only gets harder to track from there really.

What if elections were replaced with talent contests?

Then the political parties of America would narrow down the field of noteworthy talents to about three or four things and divide the country in which talents are okay to have, and which make people evil, horrible people, and huge percentages of the populace will absorb that new paradigm into their core concept of self.

Other countries will probably fare much better.

What if we perfected biodome technology to the point where colonies on the Moon and on Mars were completely viable?

Then we would ignore the possibility of space colonies until the very moment it became vital to escape there or profitable to abuse them.
