Eh? This for example is 16 damage on turn 3:

T1: Pelt Collector
T2: Syr Faren (Pelt Collector attacks for 2)
T3: Titanic Growth Syr Faren, it becomes a 6/6, attack for 6 (Syr Faren) + 8 (Pelt Collector) = 14

And this only takes two lands. Three lands also suffices to cast every spell in the deck except Questing Beast, and the deck has 21 lands, which hits three lands on turn 3 ~85% of the time.

Yeah, I had that exact sequence play out a few times in the 13 games I played it with. I never landed 14 damage. Magic, as it turns out, is a 2 player game.

What meta are you playing in? Jeskai Yorion has only Omen of the Forge to interact with that sequence on turn 2 (if they have it in their 75), and they're rather less than 40% to have it since they have 80 cards. Plus they actually have to play Omen of the Forge before you have to play Titanic Growth, or you get to attack and Syr Faren triggers for at least +2. Same goes for Bonecrusher Giant/Petty Theft/Scorching Dragonfire which are the other interactive 2-mana spells I can think of.

I don't know what meta you're seeing but it certainly does not feel like the one I am seeing.

Platinum ranked. Tons of obosh and lurrus, both of all sorts, a couple of cavalcade and a sprinkle of Fires decks.

So you really don't know Heartless Act and other two drops exist?

Who is playing those cards? Even the black aggro decks aren't because they're all playing Obosh.

I don't understand how Esper Control isn't feasting on these greedy sh*ts.

In fact I'll just go and maindeck 4 of Duress, Thought Erasure, Dovin's Veto and Unmoored Ego for the lulz

That's a much bigger problem for Azorius than it is for Esper.

Well I got to Mythic 90 with the Esper deck (not with all those 4-ofs obviously) and all I see is aggro and midrange...

Entered a Bo3 event: aggro and midrange. Seems like everyone else is bored too. Need to get higher to test my theory lol

Everybody who's accidentally started a Bot Match since the update, raise a hand. * raises hand *
Default Bot Match between games is the most annoying change.

Yes, I too have the shame of conceding to Sparky

First impressions on post-ban meta, it looks a lot more diverse than before which is great. Only annoyance is I can't find a deck I enjoy again. One would think Temur Reclamation is my kind of deck, but it's very annoying because I'm forced to take cards that are bad against aggro (like Negate) or cards that are bad against control (like Scorching Dragonfire / Storm's Wrath). Either way I'm stuck with dead cards in hand that I can't filter. I've been trying old-school Niv Mizzet in Temur Reclamation for this reason. Even if I have dead cards, an active Niv Mizzet should be able to bail me out of virtually anything. Some preliminary thoughts on that in the constructed forum thread. Short version is I'm not sure it's better than the current "standard" Reclamation lists. It's certainly better in some matchups, but it's frustratingly bad in others.

I guess I'll try playing Bant Ramp next, possibly with Mass Manipulation.

The problem with Temur Rec is it's extremely unfun to play.

That's not a problem for Bane "Nexus should be in every format" Don.

Haha. Problem with "fun" is that different people find different things fun, so it's a hard thing to balance around. I find I don't mind Reclamation, but royally hated the midrange arms race of pre-ban meta.

In any case I don't think Nexus is needed in the current format. Nexus acts as the end boss in formats where it's legal because its endgame plan trumps everything else, which is devastating to greedy decks that can't put up a clock. But based on the post-ban meta I saw, it's already pretty diverse with decks in the full spectrum from pure aggro to pure control. Nexus isn't needed in such a meta, although I still think it would've been nice in the pre-ban meta where it was a matter of who can Yorion harder while dodging the red matchup.

Anyway speaking of which another deck I might try is a modified blink deck with maindeck Yorions. Whatever happened to that by the way - Gyruda combo decks play maindeck Gyruda, why not Yorion decks?

Is it just me or is it the case that if I queue unranked BO1 with monored, I run into other monored players?

I played two mirrors, the latter of which was against someone with literally Redcap Melee and Blazing Volley maindeck. Like, seriously. If it is the case that monored players play against other monored players, I'm teching my deck out with this kind of mirror-breaker cards, too.
