https://mtgmeta.io/metagame?f=standard& ... 2020-04-26 Current top decks Temur Reclamation, Jeskai Fires Keruga, and Bant Ramp Yorion. Seems sacrifice decks have declined tremendously in win rate.

I wonder why Temur Reclamation is suddenly so good? It seems like the only real additions to the deck are Shark Typhoon & the triland.

My guess is because it runs counterspells and more comboy type decks have pushed down aggro.

So, now that the meta game has settled it seems like we're mostly looking at all the T1 decks from last season + companions. Unfortunate, but fairly predictable. Azorious control became Yorion, Fires became Keruga fires, and temur rec...is basically the same. Any indications of wholly new decks emerging from Ikoria?

I'd consider basically any Lurrus deck a new deck, since otherwise it would never be feasible to stuff your deck with literally 1- and 2-drops, yet still have a gameplan. Sure, there's old elemets in them (Cat&Oven), but this concept basically could not function without him, whereas Fires worked without Keruga and Reclamation/Bant worked without Yorion.

There are new decks: https://www.coolstuffinc.com/a/covertgo ... a-standard Named ones are Obosh aggro (newly broke out last week), Jeskai cycling, and the one based around Lukka. That goes along with other random decks such as Gyurada combo and Winota.

Anyone know what happened to Nissa-Krasis decks? They seem to have disappeared from the "top decks" lists, and I don't see why.

Link? I've been trying to break that card since I first read about it.

Also, yeah Lurrus decks I think do qualify as "new", but I haven't yet seen one that I would consider T1. The mono- Obosh aggro deck, on the other hand, may be. Though I'm not sure if an aggro deck can ever really be "T1."

I have actually had some success lately with a Mutate deck. Nothing meta breaking, but a fun change from the normal.

4 Alseid of Life's Bounty
4 Hushbringer
4 Paradise Druid
4 Mythos of Nethrol
4 Dirge Bat
4 Gemrazer
4 Migratory greathorn
1 Polukranos, Unchained
1 Snapdex, Apex of the Hunt
4 Auspicious Starrix
1 Nethroi, Apex of Death
2 Plains
2 Swamp
5 Forest
4 Godless Shrine
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Temple Garden
4 Indatha Triome

Mutate is not great, but since each effect can give you a card or destroy an opponents, you don't lose too much if your creature is killed. If you are allowed to start adding effects though, it can get crazy. Mutating onto the lifelinkers can win you races, and Alsied can cause problems for removal, plus it is a mutate target. Polukranous is a crazy mutate target, although it rarely lives that long. If it does, you have unlimited fight ability. Snapdax can only mutate on with the mana base, unless you have a Druid up. Still, too good to not include. Snapdax on a Starris is pretty fun.

The deck does have some issues with Fires, but the 4 Gemrazers help...but at best, just evens out the match, although I constantly feel at a disadvantage. Hush is an issue for the Lurrus decks, but not as big of an issue as I originally thought it would be. The lifggain works pretty well vs Cycling decks. Also the deck has some issues vs red at times, really depends on draws. Sometimes it is a cakewalk, others I get crushed.

Still, just fun to use mutate.

Apparently the spike in ECD and Agent makes Nissa a liability.

Gotta love it when their broken cards make other broken cards unplayable

Turn 4-5 Nissa is nice, but it's not quite as good as:

Turn 4 fires of invention

Turn 5 Lukka, Coppercoat outcast, sacrificing a token for an Agent of treachery, then casting Yorion, Sky Nomad blinking Agent, Fires and any random Saga's/Omens you have, and then casting another few spells thanks to fires not being in play anymore.

And because it's hard to go under these Fires decks thanks to their sweepers, and disruption in teferi/ birth of meletis/ white omen ect Nissa being better vs aggro isn't too relevant either, it's all about being greedy at the moment

Theres a very good combo going on with Jeskai Yorion.

You basically only run Agent in the creature slot, then with Lukka you fetch for them.

So the combo goes something like this
T2 Birth of yoummama
T3 Teferi
T5 Lukka, sac the Wall fetch for Agent steal something
T6 drop Yorion, blink Agent and Teferi, steal another thing and next turn bounce Yorion with Teferi Draw a card and repeat.
You got also the white castle and Typhon for extra tokens.

The pile runs most of what Windervoid is already running, some of them run Fires, others splash for green and ramp.
I tested it and ... o boy its devastating and not so hard to pull, extra bonuses when you steal 3 things and start drawing 3-6 cards EOT

The deck looks something like this.

4 x Teferi, Time Raveler
4 x Omen of the Sea
4 x Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast
4 x Agent of Treachery
4 x Shark Typhoon
4 x Elspeth Conquers Death
4 x Deafening Clarion
4 x Shatter the Sky
4 x Narset, Parter of Veils
4 x The Birth of Meletis

4 x Fabled Passage
4 x Sacred Foundry
4 x Castle Ardenvale
1 x Mountain
4 x Island
7 x Plains
4 x Raugrin Triome
4 x Hallowed Fountain
4 x Watery Grave
4 x Steam Vents

I have tried out that deck and it really is deadly. I kinda hate playing it though because it just seems so unfair and unfun for your opponent. It surprisingly seems to have answers for about everything and somehow in an 80 card deck seems to find what it needs when it needs it. My version has no Typhons, +Superkick Narset, + Omen of fire and Fires of Invention. Running some 3 ofs to make it all fit.

Good early call on that deck being a powerhouse.

Lol, to think TCG Player published two independent articles by people attempting to beat Jeskai Lukka recently:

https://infinite.tcgplayer.com/article/ ... 24cfc7296/
https://infinite.tcgplayer.com/article/ ... 80d01b21b/

Seems like they've been trying really hard but haven't really been successful, so it's very possible this is the best deck in Standard. It's quite surprising to me how well 80-card decks are holding up, after it's been conventional wisdom for decades that 60 cards is the best.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. I’m curious if there’s a notable difference in how the 80 card decks play out in paper vs online shuffler systems

I was watching CGB play an 80 card deck with a single copy of Jeskai ultimatum and he drew that 1-of way more often than it seems like he should
