Lukka .... 0.o

Deck with token generators and mythic/rare creatures costing 7+ mana and being bonkers in nature. Exile token, put creature into play from library. Agent of Treachery as an example.

Mechanics:

The set introduces the keyword ability mutate. You can mutate a creature you control, but it is currently unknown what that entails. At least one creature can be mutated multiple times. Mutate was first referred to on the silver-bordered card Surgeon General Commander in Unsanctioned.

The set also introduces the mechanic Companion and the return of Cycling.

The set makes use of keyword counters. These were introduced on a test card in the Mystery Booster set (Recycla-bird with flying counters).

The set uses twelve different types of counters (thirteen including loyalty counters). One of those counters is a foreshadow counter.

"My name is Vivien Reid. If you are reading this guide, it means that you seek the mysteries of Ikoria, as I once did. Here, I have recorded the lessons and observations I have collected during my travels on this plane. I trust you to explore and admire this beautiful world without meddling in its affairs. If you have already arrived on Ikoria, I recommend leaving or finding a safe spot before reading further: it is not a kind place to those who stand around idle and unaware."

They licensed a bunch of Kaiju and use them as alternate versions of certain cards (you can see the actual name of the card in the extra name box on the Spacegodzilla card). So although Godzilla and friends are on cards, it's more like making the inevitable fan nicknames of cool cards official.

Lol... when did they start doing that? Just this set? Or did I miss something?

Also, can they go ahead and reprint prodigal sorcerer as Tim? I’d buy it!

How does Companion work?

And yeah, Lukka seems like the most abusable card to me. In eternal formats there could very well be a "go get Griselbrand/Emrakul" deck (although I guess there're better ways to cheat Griselbrand/Emrakul into play). There's always the danger of drawing the cards you want to dig for, though.

If your starting deck (excluding your sideboard) fits the requirement on the card, you can reveal that card from your sideboard at the start of the game and you may cast it from your sideboard. You can only have one Companion per game.

So for Keruga, at the start of your game, if your deck has no nonland cards below 3 cmc, you can reveal Keruga in your sideboard. If you do, you basically start with it in hand.

How would your opponent know in paper that your deck has no non-land cards below 3 CMC? Do they get to look through your deck?
