Seems pretty solid, especially if you can ramp into it on turn 2 and start eating your opponent's graveyard. Maybe Modern playable?

The card is alright. Not terribly exciting, and needs building around, but definitely not bad in any way.

They only exist because people believe in them, so it says much more about the gods people create than the gods themselves.

Because Red is all about destiny and defending the order of the world and never causing chaos.

I'm not saying it's a bad card, but it does nothing for me. The flavour of the ability doesn't resonate with me either. And yeah, a red-aligned god of destiny feels like a complete capitulation. They could've made her Bant or Abzan, moving into three colour space seems like the most sensible way of making up new gods... If we have to have a new RG god to fill the Xenagos-shaped hole, I would have liked her to be a god of love, not destiny. Actually, that way we could have had a card called... Temple of Love! *puts on Goth sunglasses*

And is it just me or does her bottom half look way too massive compared to the rest?

Based on the flavor, red actually makes sense as red is a color that loathes the manipulation of white and blue. Green also makes sense as 'preserving destiny' could be interpretted as 'preserving the natural order of cause and event'.

Other than that, she lacks the reactivity of Scaveninging Ooze and the power of Rest in Peace, so I imagine she would mostly be used with your own graveyard somewhat like Deathrite Shaman

The god of love is the hole that xenagos filled.
I doubt they'd roll back to a god they'd already passed by.

You forgot to mention that she can also ramp, especially in any environment with a lot of fetches.

I don't like it very much neither from a design nor flavor standpoint. RG as the color of destiny is weird - shouldn't it be otherwise? And while damage + lifegain are each red and green effects, putting them together just feels weird in a way that Lightning Helix didn't (which I suppose is due to Helix's simplicity).

it feels natural enough mechanically. adding mana feels pretty RG and it helps make the lightningbolt/heal part feel more natural overall.

I don't understand the flavour but i don't know theros. The blurb and the art and the name all seem to want this character to be white.

I would have liked it better if it took a random card from Target yard. Chaos is the only part of red which fits with the idea of destiny, by giving up your choice in order to trust a higher power.

Destiny is pretty much mono-, but 's agreement with is that it believes in accepting who you are instead of changing yourself. That she flat out takes the choice away from other people is weird, but it could potentially be very interesting, as in "do you really feel freedom if your emotions are predetermined"?

Maybe it is playing into some sort of space about the confusing and sometimes chaotic nature of destiny. Sort of like how prophecy is both maddeningly vague yet painfully specific at times. And it's not like Red has been a stranger to prophecy in the past.

We all agree Green is the color of Destiny, but also Figure of Destiny was a thing?

I don't think destiny can be confined to one area of the color pie, since, as this thread attests, it's such a vague notion that contains opposite meanings of both fate and free will. I think it fits here just because the card creates a clock - either it's going to become an indestructible 4/5 or ping the opponent to death, and also it forces the opponent into action – either killing you, getting the card off the battlefield, or reducing your r/g devotion.

It's a bit slow for gruul as it doesn't impact the board immediately, but perhaps they are doing some off-color pie things in this set that will make it playable.

I guess if she is destiny, then it's her choice she feels is being violated when somebody retakes their mortal coil? It's an odd direction certainly.

As an avid graveyard user myself, she seems really tame compared to the GY hate I live in fear of, like Rest in Peace. At least I can still play around this.
