Elspeth coming back to life?

We can infer from the card numbers that there is at most one cycle of colored lands, probably temples (since each land goes after thundering chariot at 139 and one of the is colorless).

Espelth seems good if the opponent has trouble blocking or plans to stop walkers with creatures that can't connect if the 1/1 are on blocking duty.

Chainweb aracnir seems very, very nasty anti-flying hate, also a good reason to choose the counter instead of haste with hellkite.
Wolfwillow is 2 mana ramp that is not weak to sweepers, nissa is pleased.

the blue uncommon legend seems value town, weak to sweepers tho.

Don't forget Elspeth has no + ability. I am not too convinced she will be playable right now. Although I am surprised she's coming back to life after dying several cycles back.

No plus ability, but Escape ability could make it a difference in playability. Don’t see a clear deck that wants her right now (maybe Selesnya Adventure cause she’d help Love Strucks attack and boost guidemothers evasive damage potential, but idk if she’s does more for the deck than the Marches who you might cut some to give her spots). Maybe different once we see everything new set brings and new deck possibilities.

Seems like an interesting commander for Brawl. Escape is same as 1st commander tax cost. If letting her go to graveyard on death rather than back to commander zone, she’s never more than 6 mana (and 4 cards from yard) to bring back, right? I know the alternate cast ability on the 7/7 angel still has to pay commander tax if cast from command zone, but don’t think you have to pay commander tax if not in command zone?

I’m intrigued by the enchantment theme. Dreamshaper Shaman in the batch of red cards in OP is an Enchantment Creature, some of the green and white creatures in the pbs.twimg jpgs look to be part of enchantment archetype for limited, and seeing auras with flash or ETB effects in various images throughout. I’ve always wished auras could be more relevant in constructed, so it’s cool to see them trying this kind of stuff. At very least limited looks fun in that regard.

Theros is the enchantment world and represent the power of the gods. Enchantment creatures are beings created by the gods from the night sky, which is why they appear like a starfield in shadow.

On original Theros, we had bestow creatures like Hopeful Eidolon that were very strong. It does not look like bestow is returning though.

So returning mechanics are: Constellation, Devotion, and Sagas. Escape is the new mechanic. Heroic is back as a theme but unnamed, as is Ferocious. Scrying seems more prevalent than usual.

Elspeth's dead but died in basically the greek underworld so isn't really dead

Gids died in Ravnica so i think he's actually dead dead

But Gideon is from Theros, right. I thought he was anyways. So when they announced the new ability was a way to come back from the dead I just assumed that Superfriends (Lilianna) was headed there to go get Gideon. I figured that you would go to the hell of the plane you were from. Never even thought about Gideon being blocked from Nyx (or whatever its called) just because he died somewhere else.

I imagine if a character is sufficiently popular, they'll find a way to bring them back to life.

I'm not 100%, i'm just going by the fact that a white planeswalker spot opened up with Gids death and Elspeths in the trailer haha

Also it would seem pretty cheezy to kill gids and bring him back like 2 sets later
