i was wondering why the bots bothered cloning old posts and not seemingly advertise anything but i guess they work by trying to make an innocuous post to start with, and then editing and necroing the post sometime later

That is indeed what they do. Leaves some confusing threads after I edit out the spam. If you hadn't brought that up, nothing in this thread would make sense to anybody who came by and started reading post-edit.

i think you're supposed to vacuum the floor after deleted the posts to make sure there aren't any babies left over
