A replacement for every sacrifice. Actually, more than that since the next sacrifice gives you two chances to "replace" the lost permanent. If only Training Grounds worked here.

Artifact creature - Spirit?
I feel like they'd be better of making it a nonartifact if the creature's actually the force that animates the broom. But I guess it had to be colorless and that still means it must be an artifact. If we're stuck with this as an artifact mechanically and a broom flavourfully, they should have just made a Broom type, or Appliance, or tool, or junk or something.

Huh, I didn't know they already did artifact spirits.
Haunted Plate Mail gets a pass from me since it's just the plate mail artifact until you activate the ghostyness- it just stays an artifact for simplicity.
The scimitar is harder to dance around though. Saying it's old is a weak excuse. I don't like it, but apparently there's a precedent for spirit artifact creatures.

They’re referred to as spirits in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Scarecrows in magic must be animated by a force of some sort. I can’t think of any scarecrow artifact creature art that depicts a mechanized scarecrow. I think it works fine, particularly in light of the story they come from.

Super slowpoke I know but I was discussing a topic today and remembered this conversation, realizing I want to see "Artifact Creature - Spirit" on return to Kamigawa for Tsukumogami.

That would be awesome. I think DFCs that start as a normal artifact and transform into an "Artifact Creature - Spirit" might even add another layer of flavour.
