It says nothing about being able to see the card you exiled so is it really as good as you think?
What if you have no desire to play anything the op has, especially a random card?

I think the ruling will allow you to look at it. How else would you know how much to pay to play it?

All cards in exile are face-up and public information, like cards in the graveyard, unless they are explicitly stated to be face-down. This may be confusing 'cause they're face-down in the Arena UI.

Gonna be this sets version of draw card fairy/lifelink kitty/goblin party sorcery/mill dood to try and meme out with in limited. Seems less risky than the other recent ones - if you fail to pick up meme quantity, it’s still a bear you might want as curve filler.

What? How are they face-down? When I mill out people with Ashiok, I get tonnes of information by looking through their exile zone, so they are certainly available.

Yes they are thinking of Thief and that's what I was thinking about when I pondered to begin with.

So they are reprinting spyglass... Do we need to craft those again? Or you can use the older ones in the new standard?

I mean they are literally face-down in the UI. You have to click on the exiled pile to pull up and go through what is in exile. This is an extra step that may make it confusing for players unfamiliar with the rules there. As I thought may be true for someone if they did not know exiled cards are public information.


All cards with the same name are treated as the same, so as long as a card with that name is legal, all versions of that card are legal.

Interesting card. Great sideboard, but do you maindeck this? Guess you can choose not to take anything if there's nothing non-black that you care about to save a card yourself. Cute in Suicide Black, though Drill Bit might still be better there.

Ah, yes, they are not displayed. The graveyard is almost the same. You can see just 1 card and need to click to see more. Exile zone is right next to it and it shimmers and glows. Like a big red button. I for one just have to click big red buttons. But how would you display them? Late-game Ashiok exiling 20-30 cards, it needs to be a pile or it would clutter everything up. And if it's just the top card visible, what would happen if the last card exiled was face-down? Then you would just see a face-down card until you click on it and can see the cards underneath.

I'm not sure it would have any benefit to change it. But alas, we're off topic. Lets leave it there.

I'm not a fan of glass casket and witching well in the slightest, I'm not particularly convinced that flavor should be a relevant factor on whenever red or black gets to destroy a permanent or is powerless to stop it. Plus I feel that "I want to run shatter because I need to destroy equips, vehicles, artifact creatures, colorless silver bullets coming from the sideboard or permanents with a strong tap ability" is more logical than "I want to run shatter to blow up things equipments, vehicles and random stuff that they wanted to have artifact flavor or they wanted to be weak to shatter and not mire in misery for play design concerns."

Even if they want an artifact matter block, it would be more memorable if the artifacts behaved differently from enchantments, imho.

(Ps. I'd also have loved if bolas citadel was an artifact enchantment, but whatever.)
