So ... the elephant in the room ...

Is it polite to not concede to an opponent who's already looping Nexus with 2x Wilderness Reclamation, Tamiyo, and flipped Azcanta?

It’s neither polite nor impolite. You don’t ever have to concede

In fact, I’ll take it further: it’s impolite to play decks that win by durdling. If it were up to me, there would be a time limit on bo3 matches. If you can’t win 2 games within 1 hour, opponent can take a draw. But that’s just me. (It might be a little bit longer in a digital format, but that’s the rough idea).

Yeah, time limit is a good idea. I used to play this other CCG online for cash events and such. There was a 45 minute (I THINK) time limit on matches and whoever was further ahead gets a timed win (i think it's worth one less point for strength of schedule but still enough to get you into top 8 if you win all your matches). So it really hurt decks that take too long to win, but it was like a chess clock. Both sides had 45 minutes so if you play your deck fast, you're fine. This is good against players like me that have severe analysis paralysis and I take too long to think sometimes.

Also, I eventually realized that if I play a deck that plays a TON of complicated monsters, it would take the opponent a really long time to decide how to block, since there were so many variables. so I'd play this deck in these big events and get more timed wins that I usually get since the opponent would either run out of time or would make panicked sub-optimal choices leading to a full win for me.

time limits can be fun how it influences the meta

Arena has a built in timer like a chess clock each side has 30 mins for the whole BO3 match.
I think this was made specially to address the Nexus issue.

if one side disconnects by accident, does the timer keep going so they can reconnect to the match? Or is a disconnect an immediate forfeit?

You got little timmers each turn... You can't take the whole 30 mins at once, so if you disconnect by accident you have like 3-4 minutes to reconnect before you lose the game

Hey all. I'm in. Hope everyone is well. Looking forward to developing Arena based tournaments now and in the future. Hope i can help Cucho in an admin capacity here. I have extensive organizational tourney experience with an unrelated mobile game that i served as commissioner for the last year or so, but i have fallen out of love with that game and have returned to my true love, MtG.

I look forward to battling you all. Cheers.
