This is by the guy who made Super Hexagon and VVVVVV, but instead of a super hard fast paced game, it's a super easy turn based game (except I haven't been able to win as the Witch yet). It's like Dream Quest but instead of building a deck of cards, you collect weapons and equipment that can be used by allocating dice to them. Some of them can change the dice you roll and some of them only work with certain numbers on the dice.

Srsly if anyone figures out the Witch let me know

I saw the trailer for the game. It looked like you had to combine/match numbers to pay for your attacks. Is that how that works?

Depends on the item. Some will add two dice together to determine the damage they do, some will only activate if you put two of the same die on them, but most items only need 1 die

On my 5th or 6th run as the witch, I got a life drain spell, allowing me to actually heal during fights which made it a lot easier. I got a tanky enemy as the last boss, so I was able to ramp up with Hall of Mirrors and bury her in dice. Now I've won with the first 5 characters, it still didn't unlock the 6th. I'm not sure if I have to beat the special missions or something to unlock the last character

Each piece of equipment accepts 1 to 4 dice with any requirements listed on the equipment. In addition, each hero has a hero power that charges up as you take damage. These range from doubling your next attack to rolling extra dice and several other whacky things.

There are only 2 episodes in the experience out of 37 that i felt had unfair rng compared to sts; if that is your concern.

The last character unlocks when you beat a certain unique boss.

I have been playing this, but it feels like it'll have limited replayability.

The 6th episode for each class has random modifiers where it adds one every time you reach a new floor from floors 2 through 5. You also get to use the entire equipment pool from episodes 4 and 5 in said episode 6.

It is also worth noting that unlocking and beating episode 37 at all might easily take you a good 40+ hours. .... Yes there is an episode 37.

Yeah, but the random rules did not really change how I played. They were more like mitigating factors.

One thing was, the "Enemies always roll 6." rule resulted in me always rolling 6s on my first turn. Am I misreading that rule or is something else happening?

If you've gotten far enough to have played each of the episode 6's enough times to say that they don't change the way you play; then you have probably gotten your money's worth out of the game. Not every game has to give hundreds of hours of entertainment to everyone who plays them, especially not 30+ hour single player games that aren't RPG's.

------------

The 6's thing is one of several glitches still in the game. They haven't managed to get rid of them all yet.

I wasn't complaining about the game's worth or whatever. I was commenting on my sense of the game overall. There were good puzzles and I had clever moments, but I haven't felt excited to go replay an episode I've won.

Guild of Dungeoneering is the other roguelike that had limited playability but much more so and I enjoyed it much less overall.
