From another thread, I got the impulse of posting fun decks... in contrast with the boring of playing RDW for quick wins, something I half promised myself to not do again :sweat:

What makes a fun deck for you? For me, usually it means it goes over the top in some fancy way, or it's full of convoluted combos

My favourite at the moment is a Temur one that tries to abuse the Brainstorm effect from Cavalier of Gales...definitely of the 2ยบ category of those two mentioned

For your amusement, Lost Gales:

A partial list of the cute little interaction's there:

*First, to get full advantage of the Brainstorm of the Cavalier, we have Vannifar, Vivien, Domri and EvolWilds if they are already in the field...and the next turn (or if we have enough mana in the same turn) Neoform, targeting Fbltph with anything, Rejuvenator and Reefs work too

*Neoforming or Vannifaring spare Llanowars for Fbltph to draw 2, classic

*Targeting Fbltph (who gets back to the library, shuffling it) or Gargos with Reckless Rage or Colossus for value. Rage can target most of our creatures without killing them, except Reefs and Elves

*Captivating creatures, then sacrificing them to Vanni or Neoform to kill even indestructible critters, gaining tons of value in the process. With enough mana, and this build has quite a bit of ramp, you can do it in the same turn you cast/neoform-vannifar the Crew

*Gargoing a big Krasis, an obvious one

*Giving haste with Domri to our fatties, and trample with Colossus

*We have Elementals at 2,3,4,5 and 6 CC so we can always vannifar or neoform for value with Reefs on the field, or Omnath in hand/library

*Getting more value from Omnath with EvoWilds

*Neoform/vanni Cavaliers into Gargos when you need to fullfill your vices, getting more scry in the process and without completely losing the Gales

I surely am forgetting a bunch of mini combos, but you get the idea...

What makes a deck boring, on the other side? For me, repetitive play patterns (like the mentioned RDW) or lack of interaction (like Nexus) or too reactive ones (like heavy counter builds) in that order

Cavalcade of Calamity decks are a lot of fun. Very glass-cannon. You either win early, or occasionally out-of-nowhere late game, or you collapse under the weight of your opponents deck.


Also, in the category of very quick agro decks that just die to sweepers and never recover; UW Flyers. Just fly over the head with your 4 anthems and 4 generals for the win.

I'm actually getting a 50-60 % in gold ranked with this, but I actually just run this to control 3-4 gigantic creatures at once.
